Cape Mentelle, established in 1970, is one of the founding wineries of Margaret River. While pioneering many of the region’s renowned wine styles, Cape Mentelle also consistently serves as a benchmark for the quality of Margaret River wines. Accolades including consecutive wins of Australia’s most prestigious wine trophy, the Jimmy Watson, with the iconic Cabernet Sauvignon in 1983 and 1984, helped put Margaret River on the international wine map. Today, our tradition of pioneering spirit and uncompromising commitment to excellence is being upheld by our talented and innovative young team.
As a guest at Cape Mentelle, you can be assured that we take our environmental responsibilities seriously. Our 200 hectares of estate vineyards are managed with a sustainable viticulture philosophy, meaning as close to organic as possible. This philosophy extends through the winery and waste management practices.
Our warm and friendly Cellar Door staff welcome guests 7 days a week from 10:00 to 4:30. Visitors are encouraged to taste through our range of available wines, including museum stock and cellar door exclusives. After some tasting, relax in our native bushland gardens or play a game of Pétanque (a version of boules) with family and friends on our purpose built court.
