| SHORTY JANGALA ROBERTSON & LIDDY NAPANANGKA WALKER AT TUNBRIDGE GALLERY (3 - 23 APRIL 2010) Tunbridge Gallery, in conjunction with Warlukurlangu Artists, are pleased to showcase over Easter a selection of paintings by Shorty Jangala Robertson and Liddy Napanangka Walker, both senior artists from Yuendumu north of Alice Springs. Shorty, now aged 85, did not start painting until in his 70's. His use of colour to paint and interpret his dreamings of Ngapa (water), Watiyawarnu (acacia), Yankirri (emu), and Pamapardu (flying ant) is vital, yet upholding the Warlpiri tradition. Shorty's paintings are held in a number of major galleries, including the National Gallery of Australia, Canberra where one of his paintings is currently featured in the Emerging Elders exhibition and the Art Gallery of New South Wales as well as in a number of other public and private collections. Liddy has been painting since shortly after the Warlukurlangu Artists Aboriginal Association was established. She paints her father and grandfather's dreaming and has a number of themes, including Wakirlpirri (dogwood seed) Warna (snake) and Wanakiji (bush tomato). Her work has been exhibited in Australia, Europe and America., Her paintings are included in a number of important collections, including the National Gallery of Australia Canberra, the Art Gallery of New South Wales and the Art Gallery of South Australia. ANZAC LONG WEEKEND Over this weekend, we will be having a "sale" of work by emerging artists from 10 communities, including communities from the Kimberley, the Western Desert and paintings by Noongar artists from the Mungart Boodja Art Centre at Katanning. This will be an exciting event and will be an opportunity to obtain some excellent work at very reasonable prices. Gallery hours: 10am - 5pm. Sundays 10am - 3pm. From 20th April 2010 we will be Closed on Tuesdays. |

Tunbridge Gallery in Margaret River has been established specifically to showcase Aboriginal art. All artworks are sourced only from accredited art centres throughout Western Australia and the "top end".
Established and emerging artists will be represented throughout the year's program together with four focussed exhibitions that will highlight key artists from particular art centres. A complete range of paintings, sculptures, carvings and limited edition prints are available together with an extensive range of books.
