Gnarabar will be going a little bit country when The Stirling Rangers come to visit at our Summer Sunday Session on the 5th of February.

The Stirling Rangers describe their style as a mixture of Johnny Cash and Paul Kelly, with a touch of Australiana. The Gnarabar audience should expect to hear a variety of original quirky songs combined with the odd cover and foot tapping favourite.

The band who released their first CD in January 2009, have since been performaing at a number of gigs ranging from fundraisers, wineries, pubs and festivals to large concerts and outdoor productions.....and we're excited to have them here at the G!

Live music starts at 5 and will run through to 8pm. Come in time for Happy Hour from 5-6pm.

Voyager Estate will open its doors for dinner on Friday, 10 February with a stunning four-course set menu, designed around the best of local produce and carefully selected seasonal ingredients. Before dinner, taste some special wines carefully selected from the Voyager Estate cellar, led by Sommelier Claire Tonon.

The menu includes a choice of dishes such as marron medallion with tomato consomme and lemon creme fraiche; chicken liver parfait with chenin blanc jelly; crispy duck breast with cherry, mint and watercress and cherry glaze; char-grilled Tenderidge eye fillet with crushed potatoes, salsa verde, confit of cherry tomatoes and balsamic eschallots; dark chocolate mousse and white chocolate gelie with blueberry granita or lime creme brulee with coconut & macadamia tuile.

There will be a service to commemorate the loss of 10 sailors off the HMAS NIZAM in 1945. The event is open to the public. Entry is a gold coin donation which will be donated to the Legacy Charity (widows of war veterans).

Already confirmed for the Perth International Arts Festival (and selling fast) Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy has how added Margaret River to his West Australian schedule. It’s no ordinary venue though, in keeping with the rest of the tour and the select venues chosen (Perth Festival Gardens, Sydney Opera House, The Spiegeltent, Eumundi et al), Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy has chosen Jewel Cave for his maiden South Western Australian appearance. With a capacity of just 40 persons and a completely acoustic show this is sure to be an opportunity anyone in the region would not want to miss. Tickets are on-sale now!

Born Will Oldham in Kentucky USA some 40 years ago, Oldham christened the Bonnie mantle after the dissolution of his previous outfit(s), the hugely influential alt-country outfits Palace Brothers and Palace Music. Since then Bonnie 'Prince' Billy has amassed a catalogue of some twelve studio-albums, all weirdly inventive takes on the roots genre: country-western, bluegrass, Appalachian folk, and which has seen cover versions from the likes of Johnny Cash, Cat Power and Mark Lanegan while the list of renowned public admirers would fill a press release on its own.

Live one can never know what to expect from Bonnie 'Prince' Billy other than to hugely entertained.

Bridgetown roots music duo Short & Curly will be playing at the Settlers Tavern in Margaret River at 3pm on Sunday, February 26.
Short & Curly are Steve 'Short' Packer (vocals, harmonica) and Karen 'Curly' Hunt (vocals, guitar). They play original songs in a blend of country, blues and folk, and covers of material by artists including Michelle Shocked, Lucinda Williams, Tom Waits, Bruce Springsteen, Paul Kelly and Johnny Cash.
