2008 Whale Season
The whales are here!
Dont miss the opportunity to see the dozens of whales that are playing in our warm waters of Geographe Bay.
From May through September, the waters off Augusta in the very south of the Margaret River region are blessed by the migration of one of nature’s most magnificent creatures - whales. The arrival, which marks the beginning of the Western Australia whale tourism season, is unique in that two species of whales, the Humpback and Southern Right, interact socially in the bay at the same time. The whales come to the warmer waters to calve and breed. To learn how to spot the differences between these two beautiful creatures – click here.
From September through to December whales can be seen in the north of the Margaret River Region, in the waters of Geographe Bay.
Whales can be viewed from land (The high powered binoculars at Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse are a fantastic viewing point) or by sea on a whale watching cruise.
