Augusta Whale Song Festival

Welcome to whale season. Start winter off right by booking accommodation in Augusta for the June long weekend. The Whale Song Festival will coincide with the Blessing of the Fleet and the opening of the whale watching season. There will be tours, live music, market stalls, workshops and family activities all weekend long by the Blackwood river and at various venues throughout Augusta.
- Cultural Workshop and Walking Tour Saturday June 1st – 11am to 1:30pm
Join Wadandi Cultural Custodian Iszaac Webb of the Undalup Association with an in-depth discovery talk of the traditional history of the far south west. Workshop includes whale stories and songs, a light lunch and a walking tour of significant cultural sites along the Blackwood.
- Blackwood Sundowner Saturday June 1st – 4pm to 7pm
Head to the banks of the Blackwood river for a cruisy south west style sundowner with local canapes, wine, craft beer, and fantastic live music. Hosted by the Augusta Yacht Club.
- Markets, Music & More: Sunday June 2nd (FREE event)
A huge live music line-up, market stalls, cooking demonstrations, and a Cultural Children’s Activity marquee. Stallholders include Margaret River Soap Factory, Seafroth Mobile Café, Natural Edge Framing & Photography, Artisan St Chocolates, Kanga Health Food – Seed Sister, Anarchy Wood Concepts, Augusta Spinners & Weavers, Augusta Community Rowing Association and Oriel Gallery Karridale.
- Guided Lighthouse Tour ($14 -$28) Sunday June 2nd – 2:30 to 3:30pm
Guided grounds lighthouse tour and short movies with lighthouse keeper and Augusta historian Paul Sofilas. Enjoy coffee and cake after an immersive history lesson on the early European settlement of Augusta, including the town’s whaling and naval history.
- Cape to Cape Track Guided Walk Monday June 3rd – 9 to 11am
Venture out from wild and windswept Quarry Bay on Cape Leeuwin with guides from the Friends of the Cape to Cape Track for a once in a lifetime walk of the breathtaking flora and fauna of one of the world’s unique biodiversity hotspots. Finish with a relaxing morning tea at the lighthouse cafe with live music.
