To all backyard brewers out there, entries for the 9th annual Backyard Brewing Tournament are open!
If you’ve got a uniquely-you brew on the boil, the judges want to taste it.
This year’s comp is bigger and better than ever, with more awards, more prizes, and brand-new categories thanks to some epic sponsors.

- Best Lager
- Best Dark Beer
- Best Hoppy Beer
- Best Sour
- Most Unique
- Best Name
- Best first-time entrant
If you’ve got a one-of-a-kind brew bubbling away, the judges want to taste it. Entries will be judged by a panel of WA’s brightest beer minds, so bring your A-game.
Winners and medallists will be announced at the epic awards night on Friday 20t June at the Margaret River Brewhouse.
And here is the kicker…
Not only will prizes be awarded to each category winner — if you take out Champion Beer, we’ll brew your winning recipe and pour it on tap at the Brewhouse and your local. You’ll become part of Brewhouse legend, soaking up the glory with a cold pint of your very own creation.

Please ensure each of your samples are labelled correctly, using the approved label template and the correct amounts are submitted.
The tournament culminates in a sell-out awards night which celebrates and recognises all the brewers who entered, with all the tournament winners announced and receiving their medals.
This year, they will be showcasing all previous winners’ brews on our taps alongside some of their range favourites. Try them all, see how your beers stand up to the champs!
