Fathoms | Food and wine from the depths of the Southern Ocean

‘Fathoms’ is a bespoke wine dinner that will take guests on a journey to the depths of the Southern Ocean.
This rare and radical food and wine experience will explore many different types of local seafood and feature the 2019 Glenarty Road ‘Fathoms’ Cuvee. An extremely special small batch sparkling wine that was wild-fermented and hand-crafted from 100% Chardonnay. Then lowered to 10 fathoms into Flinders Bay, where it has been naturally lees stirred by the extreme currents of the Southern Ocean for 13 months. Creating a wine with incredible texture and complexity, bringing whole new meaning to ‘a sense of place’.
This unique project is a collaboration between Sasha and Ben McDonald from Glenarty Road and Brad and Jodee Adams from Ocean Grown Abalone. The inspiration came from Sasha and Ben’s dream to make this unique wine and their philosophy of farm to table food and sustainable farming practices. Together with the help of Brad and Jodee Adams and their collective passion to celebrate the wild beauty and natural abundance of Augusta and the Southern Margaret River region.
The culmination of the project will be a slow and intimate dining experience curated by Glenarty Road head chef Jess Widmer that will creatively showcase local abalone and seafood found at 10 fathoms in the Southern Ocean, alongside freshly picked seasonal produce from the farm, the ‘Fathoms’ Cuvee and a range of other Glenarty Road wines.
The dinner will be held at Glenarty Road on Friday the 24th of September 2021. This relaxed but special evening is all about honoring the surroundings, creative collaborations and sustainable food cooked with passion. An experience not to be missed.
