JOURNEY then and now exhibition
3 July 2021 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
An event every day that begins at 10:00 am, repeating until 18/07/2021
Journey – an act of travelling from one place to another.
In this new exhibition Studio Gallery showcase selected artists creative journeys, displaying how an artist explores and transforms their visual ideas over time.
Many of the Studio Gallery artists have and continue to explore a variety of subjects and mediums, resulting in the evolution of their practice.
At the gallery, they have been fortunate to follow the progression of many of the artist’s work and now we invite the viewer to share that too.
Jennifer Sadler – ‘“My work has always been inspired by a response to the landscape and the environment in which I live. Over time my colour palette has become more restrained and, with the use of additional mediums (mainly encaustic), the work is pared back, incorporating mark making and elements of abstraction.”
The show will exhibit two artworks by each of the artists, inviting the viewer to see where their journey began and where they are now.
Marjan Bakhtiarikish – “In my present journey of development, my focus is more on the Dutch Golden Age masters like Rembrandt with their emphasis on powerful form, strong characterization, subtle but intense “Chiaroscuro” and beautiful textural effects.’
Jeanette Dyson – ‘For many years I aimed for realistic interpretations of the natural world & then a life changing transfer to the Kimberley transformed my interpretation of the landscape.’
