Event access will commence from 11am with the support act Ricki Malet & Chris Foster commencing at 12pm and Michelle Nicolle commencing at 2:30pm.

MICHELLE NICOLLE (VIC)

Michelle Nicolle is celebrated as one of Australia’s finest female jazz singers. Known for her ability to get right to the heart of a song, as well as being an in the moment improviser, Michelle has released 8 CDs and toured extensively Australia and internationally including Tokyo Jazz Festival, Jarasum Jazz Festival (Korea), North Sea Jazz Festival (Netherlands), Asia Pacific Festival (Russia), Prague Jazz Festival, Sidebar, (New Orleans).

She is the recipient of several awards including Bell Award (2017), Mo Award (2001, 2003 & 2004), National Jazz Award (1998) winner and ARIA award finalist (2001, 2004, 2009).

Joining Michelle, this special Perth International Jazz Festival performance will also feature the exquisite talents of:

Two well known legends of the Perth jazz scene join forces to deliver you an afternoon of live jazz in the lush surrounds of Aravina Estate.
Ricki Malet has been playing trumpet around Perth, across Australia and internationally for over 20 years, with a regular residency at The Moon Cafe with jazz band THE FIX for over 15 years. When not performing, he teaches at the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts, and is Musical Director of the WAYJO Minter-Ellison Monday Night Orchestra.
Also part of Perth jazz institution THE FIX, in-demand pianist Chris Foster can be found in jazz ensembles across the Perth scene, including TRISK, the Chris Foster Trio, Abbey | Foster | Falle, and Optamus. Chris also appears as a sideman on projects by leading Perth artists such as Kate Pass, Libby Hammer, Nick Abbey, Laura Corney, Ryan Daunt, Downsyde and Drapht.
