The Old Courthouse Complex is proud to present The Seafarer’s Canvas, a powerful new mixed art exhibition displaying maritime inspired works by 20 artists in the Bond Store Gallery from 26 September to 22 October.
The Seafarer’s Canvas captures the indomitable spirit of those who embark on maritime adventures through an array of artistic interpretations, including paintings, printmaking, textile art and ceramics.
Art enthusiasts are invited to delve into captivating oceanic works on display, from tranquil coastal vistas to dramatic forces of the sea.
Each piece reflects a unique aspect of the maritime experience, capturing the beauty, mystery, and peril of seafaring life.
Timed to coincide with International Maritime Day on 26 September, The Seafarer’s Canvas will open alongside a fascinating new heritage exhibition about the infamous S.S. Georgette shipwreck that occurred in nearby waters almost 150 years ago.
Forgotten Voyages – Rediscovering the S.S. Georgette recounts the harrowing final voyage of a steamer sail ship along the south coast of Western Australia in 1876.
Free to experience, history buffs can take a deep dive into accounts of heroism, heartbreak and the series of events and errors that resulted in the tragic loss of 12 souls at sea.
Join in celebrating the essence of those who have ventured across the sea in this enthralling fusion of art and history at the Old Courthouse Complex.
