Margaret River Region Dash, Dunsborough/Yallingup – 8th – 11th December 2019

Located at the northern end of the Margaret River region, sparkling calm clear water and white sandy Dunsborough beaches are linked to town by lush green grass and shady paths. There is a bustling café atmosphere and plenty of gorgeous boutique shops. At night there’s a great vibe with brew houses, wine bars and pubs with a live music scene, restaurants and cafes. Just 5 minutes down Caves Road is Yallingup. Splendidly nestled on a ridge, surrounded by the Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park with spectacular views over Yallingup Beach out to the Indian Ocean.

Meelup Beach - Photo Elements Margaret River
Located on the stunning turquoise banks of Geographe Bay, Dunsborough would have to have one of the most tranquil and magnificent locations in the world. Beachfront cycle ways and walking paths turn into a hiking trail through the regional park along the bay. With ideal beaches for swimming it is also a great location for diving, snorkelling, kayaking and other water sports. There are even two golf courses!
Yallingup has bred some of the world’s greatest surfers and you’ll soon see why with a visit to Yallingup Beach, Smiths Beach and Injidup. They’re awesome places to watch the surf (and the surfers!). The tranquil crystal clear lagoon at Yallingup Beach is lovely for snorkeling and swimming. A swim is especially deserved if you’ve explored a bit further along the pristine white sandy beach to the rugged cliffs or on the Cape to Cape Track.
The landscape is so inspiring that an arts precinct, with more galleries than anywhere else in Your Margaret River Region, has developed just off Caves Road. The food and wine is fantastic and there’s plenty of variety with restaurants, premium wineries, cafes, pubs or burger bars.

Holiday activity inclusions

We have included in your stay the Dunsborough/Yallingup holidays essentials, showcasing the best of the region’s natural and heritage landscapes, but as destination experts, we can also add a number of other touring, dining or activity programs, tailored to your level of adventure.

Ngilgi Cave, Yallingup

Beneath the limestone ridge which forms Cape Naturaliste, lies Ngilgi Cave. The fascinating association with a rich Aboriginal legend describing the battle between a good spirit (Ngilgi) and an evil spirit (Wolgine) gives Ngilgi Cave its name. Discovered in 1899, hear stories of legendary battles, romantic escapades and close encounters, from your expert guide, as you make your way to the main show cave, where you will be free to discover the beauty of Ngilgi Cave and be left to explore at your own pace. Extensive boardwalks lead you through the impressive chambers of this underground wonderland. Along the way, lighting illuminates hidden marvels and signage allows you to learn more about the remarkable stalactites, helictites, shawls, columns and more.

Wine & Sights Discovery Tour

Visit amazing scenic locations and iconic sites then experience some local wines and gourmet produce over a leisurely afternoon. Get a feel for the area through the eyes of 3rd generation local guides. You’ll be blown away by beautiful scenery in this globally recognised biodiversity hotspot. Visit Cape Naturaliste, one of the most spectacular locations in the Margaret River Region, with stunning gentle bays on one side and the Indian Ocean on the other. Enjoy tastings of local produce and a complimentary local wine, boutique beer or tea/coffee. Try and spot the Bottlenose Dolphins playing in the waves or take memorable photos of Sugarloaf Rock and Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse. The tour then heads in to the wine country, down scenic Caves Road, visiting two wineries and local gourmet producers for a taste of the region, before returning to your drop off point through the rolling Yallingup Hills, to spot for Western Grey Kangaroos.

Busselton Jetty & Underwater Observatory

Extending 1.8 kilometres over stunning Geographe Bay, the heritage listed Busselton Jetty is the longest wooden-piled jetty in the Southern Hemisphere. Jump on board for the leisurely train ride along the jetty and the calm, clear waters to the Underwater Observatory. Then descend 8 metres to the ocean floor to experience one of Australia’s greatest artificial reefs to discover 300 species of vividly coloured tropical and sub-tropical corals, sponges, fish and invertebrates. Your ticket includes a return train ride or you may prefer to stretch the legs and enjoy a leisurely walk back to the Interpretive Centre for an interactive insight into the jetty’s fascinating past.
