Is it weird if we just want to walk up and down these steps all day and repeatedly take in this iconic view of Smiths Beach? @paulamariamurawska sure has the right idea anyhow, we're pretty sure nothing would come between her and the beautiful blue Indian Ocean, except maybe an enormous white sandy beach! If you're staying in the northern end of the Margaret River region then Smiths Beach is one of the best afternoon stroll locations on offer.. You can access the beach from both the north and south ends for some nice time out in nature all by yourself. 🕊

Hands up, who is dreaming of their next #camping getaway? 🙋‍♀️⛺
📸 @rukdesilva checked into a million-star hotel with an amazing ocean view, sleeping under the Milky Way on the Cape to Cape Track.
The track follows 124km of glistening bays, deserted beaches and limestone cliffs, from Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse in the north to Cape Leeuwin in the south. Most hikers complete the walk in 4-7 days, and if you'd like to add this to your bucket list, check out some of the tour companies offering guided or semi-guided hikes - @CapetoCapeExplorerTours, @Edgewalkers_ and @WalkintoLuxury

There has been a strange feeling across the Margaret River region this last week or so. A cutting back and forth of emotions, government announcements and business adjustments, and a realisation of the arbitrary nature of life. Between this, there was a strong sense of what this community is made up of – generous, empathetic, and creative people adapting to this new (and hopefully short-term) state. There were moments of connection by way of a chat with the local grocer, or a nod of solidarity with a stranger at sunset which we’re sure were felt by all locals and visitors still here.
These are improbable times. But from what we’re hearing, the community is stepping up. For now – the Margaret River region is looking a bit less like long table lunches and bustling events, and more like takeaway services from those same foodie diners, creative cleansers happening online with live streaming of conferencing, and wineries turning grapes into hand-sanitiser.
Travel is currently restricted between Western Australia’s regions with explicit instructions from the WA Police Commissioner to cancel any plans to travel down south. We’d like for you to think about the businesses in the region who will struggle in the weeks ahead, and consider postponing any plans rather than cancelling. We wish you were here. But we still feel we’re in this together.

The community is adopting government policies around safety and social distancing, and working towards coming out of this sooner rather than later. There are lights in the distance, and there is hope. These strange days will pass, and the beautiful Margaret River region will once again be bustling with happy holiday makers enjoying our pristine beaches, star gazing the night sky, exploring the caves and making wonderful holiday memories.
Until then we’ll share inspiration for your next trip plus information about businesses providing essential services. 📸 @discovermargaretriver

When the other half of @nickbatten__ said "Hey honey gimme some sugar!" he swiftly packed the picnic blanket and whisked her out to one of the Margaret River regions most stunning sunset locations - the iconic Sugarloaf Rock! This gigantic granite landmark is absolutely breathtaking any time of the day but pair it with a romantic dusk sky and you've got a recipe for plenty of extra brownie points. So go on fellas, get your girl out there and take in the magic of nature without spending a cent. 👌
