Located in the heart of the picturesque Margaret River wine appellation, Bussells Bushland Cottages is a gazetted “Land for Wildlife” and “Wildlife Land Trust” sanctuary. The rustic charm of these 8 well-appointed (self-contained) rammed-earth cottages is complemented by the natural (20 hectare) bush block, well treed with jarrah, marri, banksia and peppermint trees; and home to prolific birdlife, possums, brush-tailed phascogales (wambengers), bandicoots and kangaroos.

Bussells Bushland Cottages is a 20 hectare (50 acre) "Land for Wildlife" property, located 5kms north-west of Margaret River township.

8 rammed-earth cottages set apart in order to preserve privacy and are self-contained with full kitchen, dining and living facilities, an outdoor BBQ, wood-fired potbelly stove in the living room and ceiling fans in all bedrooms (except those with double bunks). Each cottage shares 1 bathroom.

Walk trails criss-cross the bush block which has wonderful stands of old-growth jarrah, marri, banksia and peppermint trees, as well as being home to a wide variety of bird life and mobs of kangaroos. A simple 'starter' breakfast is provided for the first morning, otherwise this is a self-catering property.  Wi-Fi is available free-of-charge. Although limited, it should be adequate for e-mails and streaming.

My wife and I recently stayed for our honeymoon. The rooms were clean and spacious and the service was excellent. I left behind something important to my wife and the owners were kind enough to post it to us. Would highly recommend a stay here. We loved the bush setting that seemed so far away from the world yet only a few minutes drive to the centre of Margaret river Bennett Moncrieff

Our 4 night stay at Bussells Bushland Cottages was just perfect. Our beautiful cottage overlooked the paddock which was always full of Kangaroos (to the delight of our 12 month old!). The log fire was great and made the cottage nice and cosy when relaxing of an evening, especially during the stormy weather outside. The hosts Ange and John were super friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. The cottage was very clean and the beds were very comfy (with electric blankets too). The WiFi worked well and the location was ideal with plenty of things to do only a short drive away. We also walked along one of the walking trails on the estate which was quiet, peaceful but full of wildlife. Overall a very enjoyable stay and we’ll be back to visit again. Paul Piorun

The nicest place to stay. Set in bush surroundings, kangaroo 🦘 and honey birds in the morning and afternoon. Peaceful and relaxing. Very close to town and winery's. Tony Ballard

We’ve stayed here many times and would thoroughly recommend it. The cottages are cosy and private, and the owners and staff are all very friendly and accommodating. The location is fantastic as it is set in the middle of a peaceful forest, yet it’s only a five-minute drive from Margaret River town centre, so you get the best of both worlds. CJ Whapps
