Starting from the Margaret River B&B in our luxury 7 seater people-mover, depending on what the group would like to do, the tour can go north along Caves Road stopping at places such as Ellenbrook, Gracetown, Moses Rock, Willyabrup Cliffs and Canal Rocks depending on conditions and Cape Naturaliste can also be visited. We then can stop at one or two wineries. There are many large, famous wineries as well as boutique vineyards where you can enjoy free tastings or purchase a sampler paddle at a brewery if you prefer. You will learn about the origin of the different soils and climates that result in the unique terroir that produces some of Australia’s finest wines.
We then return to the Margaret River Bed and Breakfast for a fabulous lunch with a free glass of wine or beer. The tour might then then do free tastings at a famous coffee roaster, a chocolate factory, a natural olive oil cosmetic outlet and then perhaps a jam factory that also produces sumptuous fruit wines and ciders. All tastings are free. We pass by several other great wineries where we could also stop for more tastings. We then can make our way to Hamelin Bay which is scenically spectacular and includes some fine examples of coastal morphology. A bonus is that the bay is a special nature reserve for stingrays and there is a flock of them that patrol the beach and that can be hand fed. We then return through the majestic Boranup Forest to look at giant Karri trees and the undergrowth vegetation as well as examining the geology of cave formation. Time and interest permitting the tour can also visit the lighthouse at Cape Leeuwin. With no rigid timetable, the tour can be adjusted to your needs.
