Described by James Halliday as ”one of the most experienced winemakers in Western Australia”, Tony “Snake” Davis has over 25 years’ winemaking experience across the renowned wine regions of Oregon, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Tasmania, South Australia and of course, Western Australia.
Redmond “Herring” Sweeny is an accountant by trade and a sports-mad, wine-addict by passion. Staunchly Western Australian and proud of it. Redmond is an experienced marketing professional with years of sales and distribution under his belt.
In 2011 these two chaps met, collaborated and Snake and Herring The Wine Odyssey was created.
At the heart of the business are well-founded partnerships with talented growers. Snake and Herring work collaboratively with their growers to ensure that sustainability and quality are expertly balanced.
Their wines are an expression of the individual sites and styles and they employ innovative wine making techniques to get the best out of the fruit. Handpicking, whole bunches, small batches, wild fermentation, raw juices and big barrels all work to build wines with texture and complexity. And it hasn’t gone unnoticed. 10 years on with a swag of trophies and gold medals to their name, Snake and Herring now have a Cellar Door on Caves Road in the heart of the Margaret River Wine Region.

Very friendly service and good wine selection. the wines are not pushed to sale. if you eat at Yarring and show your receipt, you get 15%off

Great location, friendly team members and the wine was superb. If you go to yarri at Dunsborough beforehand you get 15% discount on the wine. Cellar door has great outdoor location where you can bring your own hamper or have the team create you one at the cellar.

I have always driven past here without going in and now realise what a mistake I have been making. We were taken here on a wine tour. They have great wine and the seated wine tasting was well done.
