Mountain Biking

If you like a bit of action and adventure, tighten your shoes and enjoy Your Margaret River Region on two dusty wheels!

Set in the forest amidst gigantic trees and spectacular scenery, the mountain bike trails are a mix of gravel roads and single track, suitable for beginner to advanced riders.

For those that want to cruise, the relatively flat firm surface of the easy and scenic Rails to Trails and Ten Mile Brook tracks are great for all levels of fitness and talent.

But if you’re a die-hard mountain biker find your nirvana with the epic mountain bike trails that have relentless jumps, berms, logs, roll overs, scrambles and mud (in season!). There are great mountain bike trails in Busselton, Dunsborough and Margaret River. See http://mrorca.org.au to help design your legendary ride.

And if you still need more of a challenge, plan your visit around the list of MTB events and races.

The Margaret River region will be one of the cornerstones of a new plan to turn WA’s South West into Australia’s mountain biking mecca, with nearly 500km of new trails planned.

Wadandi Track

Now stretching from Witchcliffe through Margaret River to Cowaramup, the Wadandi Track offers beginner mountain bikers their first experience of riding off-road.

Crossing historic bridges which once formed part of the railway line to Busselton, there are many spots to stop and take in the beauty of the changing landscape, from farmlands to forrest.

Location: Cowaramup, Margaret River & Witchcliffe
Distance: ~30km
Riding Experience: Beginner

The Pines

The very popular trails known as ‘The Pines’ have been a favourite for locals as visitors of all ages because of their accessibility and fun factor. Without any really steep climbs or descents and plenty of ‘flowy’ single track, The Pines can keep you very amused for an hour or two without riding the same trail twice.

Situated just north west of the Margaret River, The Pines have numerous gravel access roads that criss-cross the trails as well has a ‘trail hub’ car park on Carters Road at the entrance to the Wharncliffe Mill.

Location: Margaret River
Distance: ~10km+ singletrack
Riding Experience: Beginner to immediate

The Creek Trails

What used to be know as ‘South Carters’, The Creek Trails are a sensational collection of single track trails for intermediate to advanced riders. With plenty of jumps, rock gardens, log rollovers and fast running berms, this is a trail riders fun park.

Situated on the opposite (southern) side of Carters Roads to The Pines, The Creek Trails are built in some beautiful native forest (please stay on the trails, don’t skid, don’t leave any rubbish!) and take you along and over creeks, on top of amazing granite outcrops and through lush forest.

Well known for taking a few scalps, don’t underestimate The Creek Trails. Many an experienced mountain biker has left these awesome tracks a little earlier then they would’ve liked with a serious injury.

Location: Margaret River
Distance: 12-14km
Riding Experience: Intermediate to advanced
