We were an extended family of 12 who stayed here in the winter months. The house was cozy and inviting, the adults enjoyed the lounge and kitchen (table big enough for some games), the kitchen was big and well equipped allowing for a couple of home cooked meals in the evenings to enjoy the wine we gathered from the local wineries during the day (the coffee machine was well used in the mornings!). The beds were very comfy and the provisions were great! The kids loved the separate room and attic space, and even our dog enjoyed curling up by the fire in the evening. Communication with the owners was great from start to end, and we can't wait to come back.

Stayed here with friends. Not quite what we were expecting for $1000 a night I didn’t expect to be doing a 1km pot holed road in a 200k car with low profile tyres worth $1500 each! Sidewall damage from these potholes were a joke. If you are going here then don’t take a nice car instead take something that is used to red dirt roads. We were expecting a fine establishment and the website gives the idea you will drive down through a gated entrance. That gate is a dead end and instead you have a sign at the end of a very long and bumpy road. The pool was dirty for 3 days before the pool cleaning company came and cleaned it which means our kids couldn’t use it. The windows were dirty with numerous spider webs about the property. I had a bite to my neck and abdomen as we slept which bothered me the entire trip and even still. The building and area feels a bit run down. The rooms are large, but the shower head in the main bedroom is a weak stream. The amenities are ok and the rental comes with some essential in the fridge and pantry. Other than that beds were ok on the comfort level, the kids play area at the top of the building is a nice touch however if kids are playing up there it does resonate downstairs. There is a washer/dryer which again was fine although I had to wash the conditioner space in the washing machine drawer as it was quite brown and dirty. We have done it once but won’t be back, we were aiming at a high end experience for us and our friends. This wasn’t it.

The best place ever to stay in a big group! The place was magical and just perfect for our group of 4 couples all with kids under 5! The loft was great for the kids while the adults enjoyed a glass of wine downstairs. The grounds were immaculate and kids loved wandering around exploring and taking lovely photos! Very well equipped kitchen which was really appreciated! The attention to detail with fine linen and quality toiletries made the stay all the more better! Can’t wait to return to Birdwood Estate again!

Our extended family had a wonderful stay in your beautiful home at Birdwood Estate. We started each morning walking and exploring the property and neighbouring Cape Lodge. When the sun was shining, we all came together on the back lawn above the dam for rounds of quoits and bocce, followed by afternoon drinks. We also enjoyed many meals together around the huge timber dining table in front of the kitchen fireplace, including slow brunches and long lunches. Wineries were close by. Our host was really attentive to any questions or requests during our stay. We are very grateful for you sharing your stunning family home and we cannot wait to return again next year! Thank you, Barbara and family.
