The environment is at the very heart with fully sealed vessels, emission-free 4 strokes, off-grid marina & solar power with 17 swing moorings throughout the area of operation. Everything is designed for the lightest possible footprint.
Blackwood River Houseboats are fully self-contained. They do houseboat, linen and dinghy. You bring food, drinks and fishing gear. OK, you can add catered and skippered options, if you like.
No Skippers ticket is required for self-drive, with a full induction on arrival. This is a practical adventure and suitable if you are an experienced, confident driver who loves the great outdoors. Rest assured, the team has over 50 years experience in charters and training.
Houseboats have top, rear and front decks with a self-contained galley kitchen, 240ltr fridge/freezer, gas hotplate/ovens, crockery & cutlery. All top decks have shade, rear decks with bbq & ladders & front deck covers. Wet areas have hot showers and normal flush toilets. There's iceboxes outside and heaters inside. Ask about kayaks and paddleboards, the team are only too happy to help.
You'll be given advice on fishing spots, swimming, secret kayaking spots, bush walks and the best itinerary for your stay.

What a wonderful experience. We felt we were the only ones on the River. We all felt really comfortable on Houseboat River. We had the pleasure of seeing a couple of dolphins feeding. It did not even feel like we were on the river it was so calm. The sunsets were amazing. House Boat River definitely needs a make over though. We will be back.

The Blackwood is the longest river in Australia's South West; flowing almost 400 km from its source in the wheatbelt, through the Blackwood Valley, to the coast at Augusta's Hardy Inlet. It is the perfect waterway for kayaking, canoeing, boating, swimming and fishing.... or even cruising along on one of Blackwood River's fully-equipped houseboats. James and Pam are super friendly and you get a full induction before you drive your very own houseboat. Perfect to get away from it all.

Great vessel great introduction to operation of vessel and showing us the way upstream and downstream so we were confident on navigating the river. The Blackwood river absolutely beautiful and I feel it would be hard to have a bad experience

James was a great host to get us on our way smoothly. Boat was spacious (for our party of 5) and clean with great extras like the kayaks and stand up paddleboards. And the river and moorings are just gorgeous.
