Mammoth Cave

A natural time capsule, and home to ancient fossil remains of long-extinct Australian Megafauna.

Join a special guided tour after dark during the school holidays. Megafauna Nightstalk promises an unforgettable experience as you journey through the depths of a prehistoric cave and step into the world of the extinct megafauna. It is essential to make a booking to secure your spot.

Mammoth Cave daily self-guided tours allow visitors to explore by themselves, while listening to an informative 'audio tour' available in English, French, German, Malay, or Mandarin.

Entering the cave through bushland via a gently sloping boardwalk, you'll realise just how much there is to see here. Over 10,000 fossils had at one time accumulated inside the cave; upon excavating many of these were found to be remains of Australian Megafauna (giant animals) that became extinct around 46,000 years ago. There is even a 50,000 year old 'zygomaturus' jawbone embedded in the cave wall!

A visit to Mammoth Cave finishes with a winding walk through a beautiful marri and karri forest, Mammoth Cave is much more than a cave - it is a complete nature experience.
