1. Cheese Fondue by the Fire at Howard Park Wines | 14, 15, 21 & 22 July
The artisan cheese made in the Margaret River region is almost enough to visit alone. Add winter vibes, a burning fire in the gorgeous Howard Park Cellar Door, and melting, delicious cheese fondue into the mix and you’ve got a full-blown reason to lock in your trip right now. This is Margaret River at its most relaxed: grab a spot on the couch or perch up on a wine barrel by the roaring fireplace for an afternoon of lingering over a delicious fondue of Cambray Sheep Cheese, made in Nannup (it’s a local favourite!).
2. Night of the Living Red at Arimia Estate | Friday, 13 July
Arimia Estate is one of the region’s quintessential wineries, known for making quality wine using organic principles. Cabin Fever Festival will see them inviting guests for a night full of wild ferment wine tasting – reds of course, it is winter – alongside two other wineries that produce their wines in the same way. There’ll be dinner on offer too – think non-fussy, high-quality, produce driven food, produced by Arimia’s Chef in collaboration with one other who remains a secret!
3. Bastille Day Lunch at Cape Mentelle | Saturday, 14 July
Cabin Fever celebrates Bastille Day with a delicious long table meal, hosted at Cape Mentelle Vineyards– one of the region’s pioneering wineries that overlooks undulating vineyards and natural bush land. Held in the Estate’s iconic wine cellar, dinner will take the form of a rustic winter feast, laden with fine wine and gourmet fare, embracing Cape Mentelle’s penchant for une grande occasion! After your lunch, embrace your inner Francophile and try your hand at Pétanque on the lawn.
4. Swings Fever Feast at Swings Taphouse | Sunday, 15 July
If blazing fires and mulled wine don’t scream winter, we don’t know what does! A Cabin Fever event taking place at much-loved local restaurant Swings Taphouse promises both those things, and more. A long table feast will feature a whole roasted pig with roasted winter vegetables to accompany, all matched with Swings & Roundabouts’ premium wine range, Backyard Stories. This is quintessential Margaret River – you’ll feel like a local!
5. Cheese Toastie Battle at The Common | Sunday, 15 July
Forget gourmet. Winter is about cheese on toast done right. Watch the best chefs in town go head to head in an epic cheese toastie battle hosted by The Common. Their mission? Make the best dang cheese toastie on the west coast. Oh, and you’ll obviously get to sample them. Be a part of the action, and wash down that melted cheese with a pint or glass of wine on the house!
6. Beef and Bourbon Dinner at Morries | Wednesday, 18 July
Morries is a Margaret River local favourite on the main strip – they dish out quality food and shake a pretty good cocktail too! For Cabin Fever, they’re teaming up with two awesome regional suppliers – Limeburners Distillery and Farmhouse Butchers – to deliver a night of winter inspired, bourbon-paired beef dishes. Expect beef served finer than you’ve ever seen before, and the warm melting of spicy, caramel bourbons!
7. Farm, Fire, Food by Chef George Cooper | Friday, 20 July
Talented young Dunsborough Chef George Cooper invites you to be the first to experience a taste of things to come on his new farm in Yallingup siding. The fires will be light for a seven-course degustation dinner, featuring some of the region’s finest winter produce in a cosy, rustic setting. This is a truly experimental private dining experience – which George Cooper is no stranger to providing. His business FoodbytheChef receives rave reviews from people all over the world about – now it’s your turn to see what all the fuss is about. George will be matching some of his favourite dishes with wine from local boutique producers, and you’ll get to know him and the region in the process.
8. Blazing Brews at The Beer Farm | Saturday, 21 July
We hear the legends at The Beer Farm are already gathering wood for this year’s Blazing Brews! The taps will be stocked with fresh, seasonal beers and the grill will be hot ‘n’ ready to produce a couple of ‘Against the Grain’ paddock to plate meat eats. About as rocking as the Margaret River region gets, also expect some red hot live music and a late (but warm!) night.
9. Espresso Martini Popup at Sidekick Cafe
If winter had a taste, it would be that of espresso martinis! Here, top-notch espresso martinis will morph Sidekick Café from sublime coffee house to ridiculously cool pop-up bar, complete with silky grooves and tasty tapas. For just $10 entry, you get to graze over a selection of house-made tapas including arancini, croquettas, charcuterie, and more.
10. The Last Supper at Larry Cherubino | Saturday, 21 July
Brought to us by Supper Road, one of the region’s most sought-after caterers, this incredible long table dinner will be hosted in the Barrel Hall at Larry Cherubino Wines. Featuring a banquet style menu of shared feast platters, the dinner will showcase some of the region’s finest produce with a comforting winter twist: think beefy broths, whole-wheel cheeses, and wood-fried bread.
