Aside from the obvious glitz, glam and gluttony of this month’s hotly anticipated Gourmet Escape, November offers everything from incredible food and wine events to outdoor adventure, so there’s no shortage of reasons to schedule in a spring break in this glorious corner of the world this month.

While Gourmet Escape is one of the biggest events on the region’s calendar, it’s not just the major events that are worth travelling for. Once you’re here, there’s a whole host of community events and well-kept secrets to uncover too. Whether it’s catching some live music from amazing local artists, learning how to cook with an Italian chef or flying over the region’s stunning coastline in a helicopter, you might find yourself so busy you end up staying ’til summer.

Live Music at Caves Road Collective | Every Sunday in October

Celebrate the launch of Caves Road Collective, home of Black Brewing Co., Dune Distilling and Ground to Cloud Winery, with live tunes every Sunday throughout November! Enjoy that spring weather with a beer out on the deck or a long-table lunch in the restaurant, along with live music from 2pm. Plus, nab a free kids meal with every adult meal ordered! The month’s lineup includes Dan White, ASKYA and Dallas Royal.

Augusta Adventure Fest By Rapid Ascent | 3 – 4 November


The new-look Augusta Adventure Fest hosted by Rapid Ascent features a new fuel-injected format with new standalone races on Saturday, and the return of the non-stop adventure race on Sunday! Whether you swim, paddle, trail run or mountain bike, you’ll be racing through the magical wilderness of Augusta – past the iconic Augusta lighthouse, under the Karri trees and through a range of untouched landscapes in air so fresh you’ll feel totally alive!

Juniper Estate Wine Dinner At Yarri | 7 November


The next instalment in a series of special dinners at the award-adorned Yarri, this Juniper Estate Wine Dinner will see five wines paired with five delicious courses. Expect to hear from local suppliers and the Juniper Estate team about the products and flavours you’re tasting!

Moscow Circus At Gloucester Park | 7 – 11 November

The beloved Moscow Circus are back with an all new extreme show, ready to wow locals and visitors alike! Featuring Australia’s top trial riders – ‘The Flair Riders’ – Extreme High Wire, the world’s best dare devil motorcyclist Cage Riders, breathtaking aerial performances and all the other trials and tricks you’d expect from a literal travelling circus, this show is not to be missed whether you live here or you’re just passing through.

Ease into the Gourmet Escape weekend with Lunch at Arimia. Chef Evan Hayter and his team are putting on a delectable five-course menu featuring seasonal dishes that speak of place, sourced from their very own property and from other local growers. The whole thing will be paired with Arimia wines or non-alcoholic alternatives for those holding out ‘til December. It’s the quintessential Margaret River region dining experience!

The annual Margaret River Gourmet Escape is a unique event attracting thousands of local, national and international visitors to enjoy a 3-day food and wine festival program complete with celebrity chefs, beach BBQ’s and exclusive events at secluded locations! One of the region’s most hotly anticipated events, Gourmet Escape is absolutely not to be missed for foodies, oenophiles and party-goers alike!


Barrel Hall Magnum Tasting At Fraser Gallop | 17 November


Go deep into Fraser Gallop’s Barrel Hall to partake in their inaugural Magnum Tasting, an exclusive opportunity to taste some of the estate’s most coveted and limited-run large format wines. Winemaker Clive Otto will join you and guide you through the tasting, shedding insight on their past and current Chardonnay and Cabernet vintages. Don’t blame us if you inadvertently end up going home with a few oversized bottles to share with the loved ones!

If you can talk cacao, couverture and cuvee, then you’re probably already familiar with Sue Lewis Chocolatier. Whether that’s the case or not – you are going to want to get to know her at Golden Delights, an intimate pairing session featuring Sue Lewis’ fine handmade chocolates and Voyager Estate wines. One hour, eight guests and a whole lot of flavour.


Xavier Rudd At 3 Oceans Winery | 24 November

Margaret River

Off the back of Brisbane, Melbourne and international sell out shows on his Storm Boy Album Tour, Australian singer-song writer and multi-instrumentalist Xavier Rudd is ready to jump on stage at 3 Oceans for a show amongst the vines. Joining him are show-stoppers The Teskey Brothers and Stella Donnelly!

Scenic Helicopters At Cheeky Monkey Brewery | Every Saturday In December


What’s better than spending a sunny afternoon in the Margaret River region at one of the beautifully-situated breweries? Why, pairing that with a quick Scenic Helicopter flight over the region’s stunning coastline, of course! Enjoy live music, expertly crafted brews and delicious food before (or after!) jumping in a helicopter and copping the best views in the region from above. If you’re keen for a helicopter ride but can’t make it down to Cheeky Monkey on a Saturday afternoon, flights also leave from the Margaret River airport every other day of the week throughout summer. Wildwood Valley Cooking Class: Taste of Tuscany | 5 December & 3 January


Passionate foodies Sioban and Carlo relish the chance to share their love of Italian and Thai cuisine in their Yallingup cooking school, and you can join them for some serious fun as you learn the secrets to preparing fabulous dishes from two of the world’s great culinary traditions. Their 4-hour hands on classes take you through both demonstrations and instruction, plus you get to feast on a 5-course meal to celebrate your newfound ability! Places for these classes fill up well in advance, so throw the December and January classes with spots left in the diary and get booking ASAP to ensure you don’t miss out.
