The event scene is in full bloom in the Margaret River Region this October.

There’s no shortage of events and happenings this spring. With a strong lineup of everything from wine, food and live music to agriculture, wildflower shows and pedal power, sunnier days and brighter evenings make us want to celebrate. Whether you’re seeking school holiday fun or a laid-back weekend with your mates, you’ve come to the right place.

Here’s what you should carve in your calendar this month.

Museum Gala Day | 1 October

Busselton

Bring the whole fam to the annual Busselton Museum Gala Day and enjoy a day of live demos of milking, butter making, blacksmithing, woodturning, pottery and knitting, to name a few. Or let live music, the Museum Surplus sale (read: long-lost treasures), Simmo’s Ice-cream and half price entry to the Museum seal the deal.

Wildflower & Environment Show | 6 - 7 October

Busselton

Immerse in two days of beautiful wildflowers, guest speakers, workshops, exhibits and displays at the Wildflower & Environment Show. Book your spot for the engaging workshops and enjoy live music, food and native plants for sale over the entire weekend. The majority of this community event is free (excluding a couple workshops to cover material costs).

Strings Attached: The West Australian Guitar Festival | 6 - 8 October

Margaret River Region

Run across three epic days, Strings Attached delivers an incredible line-up of guitar talent spanning a range of genres from acoustic to classical, electric to bass. Music and acoustic lovers, immerse yourselves in all things strings with over 90 shows, masterclasses and workshops, as well as panel discussions with artists & luthiers and an exhibition featuring guitar makers, techs, tool makers, suppliers, collections and more. Open Nature Gardens Weekend | 14 - 15 October

Margaret River Region

Curious what kind of native plants and wildlife grows, lives, and thrives in a gardener’s very own backyard? So are we! A new batch of inspiring nature and wildlife gardens will be open to the community when the annual Open Nature Gardens Weekend returns mid-October. Hosted by Nature Conservation Margaret River Region, the ticket fee ($15) goes straight back into supporting nature conservation activities.

Cape To Cape MTB | 19 - 22 October

Margaret River Region

Starting at Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse in Augusta, and finishing four days later at Cape Naturaliste, the Cape to Cape MTB course makes its way through a network of trails along the coast, through National Parks, forest, farmlands, mountain bike parks and bush. Riders will undertake an impressive 45 to 65 kms per day, so while not for the faint of heart, those up for the challenge will be rewarded with gorgeous scenery and the ultimate bragging rights.

Fine Vines Festival | 20 - 29 October

For aficionados and occasional drinkers alike, Fine Vines Festival invites you to explore all aspects of wine through exclusive museum tastings, tours, dining experiences, masterclasses, garden parties and more over 10 awesome days. Margaret River Agricultural Show | 21 October

Margaret River

A favourite on the local event calendar, and the town’s largest community event, “The Show” is always full of fun events and displays to showcase the regions’ offerings and provide a glimpse into its rich heritage. A one-day event filled with non-stop entertainment, don’t miss the popular art, photo, craft, Lego, produce and flowers exhibitions, the scarecrow section, rides, carnival games and over 100 food and beverage vans.

Hiking For Healthy Hearts | 27 October

Margaret River Region

Follow your heart and join Hiking For Healthy Hearts for an exciting adventure of fun, fitness, friends and fundraising, proudly supporting the Heart Foundation. Hike the 35km or 20km along Margaret River’s spectacular coastline and the lush forest scenery of the famous Cape to Cape track and be part of their wildest Coastrek yet.

The 41st Margaret River Classic | 3 November

Margaret River

The Margaret River Surf Classic is one of the longest running events in Western Australia, with huge prestige and an epic list of past winners including some of WA’s best surfers. All divisions include huge prizes with entry into the Trials of the 2024 Margaret River Pro awarded to the winners of the Open Men and Open Women divisions.

Eagle Bay Epic Adventure Race | 4 November

Dunsborough

The Eagle Bay Epic is the ultimate off-road adventure race in a magnificent setting. Swim and kayak in the calm waters of Geographe Bay, run along the scenic coastal trails, and hit the flowing single tracks for a high-octane mountain bike in the Meelup Regional Park.
