Mammoth Cave is a natural time capsule, nestled deep in the Margaret River Region, where ancient fossil remains of long-extinct Australian Megafauna were unearthed.

Once home to giant animals that roamed the continent before their extinction around 46,000 years ago, the cave offers a rare glimpse into the distant past. Self-guided audio tours, available in English, French, German, Malay, and Mandarin, enable you to explore at your own pace, as you learn about the cave’s geological formations and fossil heritage.

Look out for the 50,000-year-old zygomaturus jawbone, a relic of a large wombat-like herbivore, still embedded in the cave wall. Wander along the gently sloping boardwalk and stairs through chambers adorned with stalactites, stalagmites, and a stream that flows during late winter and early spring.

On existing the cave, you'll step into a tranquil forest setting where a peaceful walk past towering marri and karri trees completes the experience. Step back in time, uncover stories preserved in stone, and enjoy a visit that blends education, exploration, and natural wonder.

This cave is self guided with a audio headset. We really enjoy this and you get to go through at your own pace. The information on mega fauna that used to dwell here is really fascinating. The first chamber is wheelchair accessible. We also enjoy the walk back through the forest at the end.
