Based in Perth, they offer private Multi-Day (overnight) tours to the beautiful Margaret River region, picking up directly from your Perth accommodation. Private tours are extremely flexible and Up Close & Local Tours offers a range of itinerary options that enable the experience to be tailored to perfectly suit each guests' tastes and interests; whether it be exploring the sights of the coast and forest, wine tasting, vineyard tours, sampling local produce, enjoying a decadent long lunch, or experiencing a little bit of everything.

Travellers can go at their own pace rather than rushing from one place to the next, with Up Close & Local handling all the planning, booking, and navigating, allowing guests to relax and be guided through the best of the region. 

  • Door-to-door pick-up and drop-off at your Perth accommodation, or begin from Perth Airport for those starting their Margaret River tour upon arrival in Perth. 
  • Multi-day 2D/1N tours are bookable online, with 3D/2N tours available on request.
  • Tours are available for groups of 1 to 6 people and can be tailored to suit couples, friends, or families with children. 
  • There is a choice of lunch options, from casual to fine dining, including breweries, wineries, or beachfront locations
  • Tour packages are 'all-inclusive,' meaning the quoted price includes tasting fees, entry fees, and activity costs (unless otherwise stated). 
  • Quality air-conditioned vehicles are used, and bottled water is provided.

Up Close & Local Tours is owned and operated by WA locals who hold internationally recognised (WSET) accreditation in wine education and are passionate about showcasing West Australian producers. They offer tours of Perth and the Margaret River region, as well as tours to the Swan Valley wine region and Perth Hills wine region, both located approximately 30 minutes from Perth City.

We had an absolutely wonderful time on our wine tour. Shannon was exceptional, her extensive knowledge of the region, the wines, and the wineries really elevated the whole experience. She was patient, engaging, and made sure we enjoyed every moment. Every winery we visited was unique and worth the stop, each had its own charm and amazing wines to try. It was a great private experience, and we felt so well looked after throughout the day. Would 10/10 recommend Up Close and Local and would love to go again!

Shannon is an excellent tour guide, highly experienced and knowledgeable about wineries. During the trip, she asked thoughtful questions, like whether it was my first time in Perth and what places I planned to visit. She also shared some great recommendations for my trip. Throughout the journey, she made sure we were comfortable and well taken care of. We visited four different wineries to sample their unique wines. The standout for me was the Honey Wine, which had an incredibly distinctive taste and isn’t available in supermarkets. It left a lasting impression. For future visitors, I’d recommend emailing Up Close and Local Tours ahead of time to check if it's the right season to witness production or harvesting. Since we visited in Spring, most of the production had already finished, and the vines were awaiting the next reproduction cycle. As a result, we primarily enjoyed wine tastings during our tour.
