Saturday, 7th June 2025 - Friday, 18th July 2025

Description

Let your kids warm up their winter with creativity, imagination, and hands-on play at Commonage Pottery.

The 2-hour workshops at Commonage Pottery are designed to inspire young artists through clay, wool, and nature-based materials — helping them explore shape, texture, and 3D design while having fun.

As you drive through the winding roads of the Southwest, spotting sheep, cows, and sunflowers, your children can also indulge into their own creative world – shaping animals, sunflowers, and felt creatures with the guidance of three local artists.

Workshop Schedule

Monday 7 & 14 July
Felt Rock Buddies with Annie Winchcombe
Children will use soft, natural wool fibres to create their very own “rock buddy” felt creatures. This workshop is a gentle, tactile introduction to felting and imaginative character-building — perfect for curious minds and playful storytelling.

Wednesday 9 & 16 July
Cute Animals in Clay with Sally Simpson
Kids will sculpt their own 3D animals – think sheep, barn owls, porcupines, and more – using stoneware clay. These sessions are built to gradually guide children through simple sculpting techniques while encouraging observation and imaginative freedom.

Friday 11 & 18 July
Sunflowers in Clay with Kay Manolas
Inspired by the bright blooms of the nearby sunflower farm, children will hand-build sunflower tiles using clay, focusing on pattern, texture, and cheerful design. A perfect entry into the joy of ceramic art with local artist Kay Manolas.
