Hire a houseboat on the Blackwood River, the longest river in Australia's South West. Reflect, recharge & relax in pristine national park with breathtaking biodiversity. Blackwood River Houseboats are ideal for private cruising with families and friends. There are 4 different sized houseboats to choose from or hire all 4 and dinghy between them. No skippers ticket required.

The environment is at the very heart with fully sealed vessels, emission-free 4 strokes, off-grid marina & solar power with 17 swing moorings throughout the area of operation. Everything is designed for the lightest possible footprint.

Blackwood River Houseboats are fully self-contained.   They do houseboat, linen and dinghy.  You bring food, drinks and fishing gear.  OK, you can add catered and skippered options, if you like.

No Skippers ticket is required for self-drive, with a full induction on arrival.  This is a practical adventure and suitable if you are an experienced, confident driver who loves the great outdoors.  Rest assured, the team has over 50 years experience in charters and training.

Houseboats have top, rear and front decks with a self-contained galley kitchen, 240ltr fridge/freezer, gas hotplate/ovens, crockery & cutlery.  All top decks have shade, rear decks with bbq & ladders & front deck covers.  Wet areas have hot showers and normal flush toilets.  There's iceboxes outside and heaters inside.  Ask about kayaks and paddleboards, the team are only too happy to help.

You'll be given advice on fishing spots, swimming, secret kayaking spots, bush walks and the best itinerary for your stay.

Blackwood River Houseboats was awarded in the Environmental Excellence category in the 2018 Telstra Business Awards and further highly commended for being Environmental Champions in the community.

Pam and James look forward to welcoming guests on board their beautifully appointed houseboats and hope you enjoy your stay on the mighty Blackwood River.

We spent 3 nights on a weekend in April with Blackwood River Houseboats. Definitely one of our best holidays and the most memorable one! Great for the family bonding by spending days and nights together on the river, isolated from the rest of the world! Pam and James are great hosts and operators, hope to visit again! Teck A Choot
We spent 3 nights in Dec 2020 on board Houseboat "River". James was very thorough in his instructions on cruising the river and on the operations of the houseboat. Our family enjoyed our time on the river, especially being able to jump onto our kayaks and SUPs anytime to explore Blackwood River. Our favourite activity is to sit upstairs in the morning with our coffee and enjoy the stillness of the river. The houseboat had everything we needed and the kitchen is well equipped for cooking. Just be aware that on "River" the double bed does not have any privacy so if the adults value their privacy, you may want to consider hiring the larger boats. Overall we had a great time and would recommend this for anyone who has not tried holidaying on a houseboat. Thanks James & Pam for looking after us! Ken & Aileen Lee

Just spent 3 nights on the Storm. Had two other families join us on the Allira and the River. Thanks Pam for organising our booking and contacting us whenever we had any questions. Thanks James for walking us through the boats and layout of the river. Trip was fantastic. All our kids were able to enjoy nature, get out on the river, swim and kayak, use the SUPs provided and some even got to skipper the dingy. We were able to just let them loose to explore our surroundings. The fishing was a bonus and there was plenty of action but as detailed in the information given you have to supply your own gear. This unique experience was similar to our previous camping trips, just that it was on water, on a well equipped boat. Facilities were adequate. Not luxurious but more than sufficient. Some of our older boys were a bit big for the bunks, so I would suggest renting the larger boats for more space and comfort. All in all this was an experience thoroughly enjoyed and great for families with slightly older kids. Thanks once again Pam and James Best wishes for the festive season and 2021 Stephen Lim
We just returned from an amazing 3 nights on board Allira. The facilities on board were adequate for the 6 of us with a well equipped kitchen. The beds were comfortable with plenty of bedding to keep us warm. Waking up in the morning in the middle of the Blackwood River is something everyone should do - simply breath-taking. Pam and James were excellent! 5 star service! Thank You! Shirley Harrison
