Mammoth Cave is a natural time capsule, home to ancient fossil remains of long-extinct Megafauna. A fascinating audio tour in several languages allows visitors to explore the majestic chambers at their own pace. This is more than a cave - it is a complete nature experience.
Visitors to this incredible cave system come face-to-face with a 50,000-year-old ‘'zygomaturus' jawbone embedded in the cave wall. They also gain insight from an audio tour available in English, French, German, Malay, and Mandarin.

Mammoth Cave is a unique window into the past, with over 10,000 fossils that once accumulated inside the cave. Upon excavation, many of these fossils were found to be remains of Australian Megafauna (giant animals) that became extinct around 46,000 years ago.   A visit to Mammoth Cave finishes with a winding walk through a beautiful marri forest. The trail is lined with flourishing green foliage, towering trees and wildflowers during winter and spring. This is more than a cave - it is a complete nature experience.

This is an amazing cave to visit. Like the name implies, it is mammoth. It’s also very beautiful. Especially, the shawl formation. Costs $25 per adult. Comes with a self-guided audio tour, which is quite good. The walk inside and in the cave is really easy. All on a railed boardwalk. You need to go up & down stairs. To get out of the cave you need to climb up over 160 stairs. Not too bad. It’s around 10 degrees in the cave. Lovely in the heat of summer.

A huge cave, unsurprising by the name, which is self-guided for the general public. There's several stairs leading into and out the cave, but a very scenic path nonetheless. Lots of platforms throughout the cave with information boards, and any remains, interesting cave formations or prehistoric animal remains are highlighted with lights throughout the cave. Some beautiful photo opportunities, and best to go during the week for when it opens, to avoid the crowds!

A nice easy walk into a large open cave area. Self-guided tour with several stairs leading to the various platforms throughout the Caves - highlighting the cave discovery, formations, history and prehistoric animals of the area. The exit is via 165 stairs which lead to two nature walk options when returning back to the kiosk. For those who may find the extra stairs a bit of a challenge, you can always exit the same way you came in.

If you are visiting Margaret River, consider taking a drive to visit the caves. We tried the Mammoth Caves this morning, and suggest bringing a sweater as it is cold in the caves. There is an audio commentary that is provided to guide you through the caves.
