A bit grim in places but interesting and very well done. 14,600 whales "processed" here, so it's obviously got a gory past, but the exhibits are very good and the ship is fun to negotiate your way around. Very friendly guides/ex workers are on hand to take you round the "processing" area, explaining everything. I can't say it was particularly pleasant to hear how a 40 tonne whale gets reduced into oil and dried fertiliser but its part of Albany's history and I would say is a must visit.

Allow for a whole day if you are interested in this subject. If wet bring raincoat and umbrellas as half is outside. Having Grown up in a country town that was a whaling town it helped me understand so much about my childhood. A fantastic culture heritage of the past in Australia. Well worth a visit.

A few chills and goosebumps to be had here knowing the history and learning even more about it. The theatre experiences are well presented and be ready for your jaw to drop at the size of the blue whale skeleton. It's well set out, easy to get around and you'll need a few good hours to take everything in. We thought the entry fee was a little on the high side at $37 for Adults maybe if it was a bit lower we might have spent more in the gift shop. I'd have to say not to bother with the Wildlife Park visit that's included in your ticket price, that was disappointing. No hands on or get up and personal with the wildlife in there. Enclosures aren't very nice either. It's well worth the visit there and take in all the history of the place.

It’s a remarkable piece of history and so well preserved thanks to the amazing jobs of volunteers and staff. It makes you feel sad when you think how many whales had to lose their life for our need for whale oil but it’s important to remember how far we have come and how much else we need to tackle. Highly recommend to check out!!
