Description
The Duckhouse welcomes you for a unique live concert in a special venue located directly adjacent to the scenic Margaret River.
Enter at the beautiful gardens just near the road bridge at the bottom of town on the corner of Higgins and Bussell Hwy.
Duckhouse aims to be an inclusive, accessible space to experience skilled, genuine musicianship in an intimate and friendly sanctuary.
Live music from:
Tom Reagan
A local 19-year-old singer songwriter and guitarist from Dunsborough, now living and performing in Perth. His original songs are easy listening and inspired heavily by music of the indie alternative rock and folk. This comes from a mix of eras and genres, making a more modern lyric-driven indie/folk style. Expect to hear a cover or two from artists such as Neil Young, Sam Fender and Paolo Nutini.
Hanky van P
Hanky van P is a solo artist on acoustic guitar and vocals, performing curated covers and soulful originals with folk, grunge, and jazz influences. Her strengths are in her storytelling and unique voice. You will also find her singing and playing trumpet with @thedudesofgrace, and on socials as @hankyvanp
Heidi and Grace
Grace Doulas and Heidi Hill are an emerging Western Australian piano and cello duo. Their programs move between classical repertoire, original works, and collaborative projects, creating performances that connect traditional chamber music with new artistic perspectives.
Grace is a pianist, cellist, and educator whose performance experience spans chamber music, orchestral performance, musical theatre, and solo recital work. Alongside her performing career, she runs a private teaching studio, nurturing the next generation of musicians.
Heidi is a cellist and composer whose work extends across concert performance, theatre, dance, festivals, film and visual media, and interdisciplinary collaborations.
The musicians will be playing unplugged and will be amplified by means of a bespoke custom-made Pianophone. It’s a one of a kind design made here in Margs and has been created by modifying and restoring an old piano.
The sound vibrations from the musicians will be picked up by the piano strings and the sympathetic resonance will then be what is heard, making for a really special experience for audience and musicians. People will be here to really experience and take in the moment, an ode to listening… real listening.
A portion of ticket sales will go toward educating Dalit caste street children in Nepal, direct through an independent grassroots education initiative https://freedomthrougheducationnepal.com/ (RAWCS Project 82/2017-18). The remaining funds will go direct to the musicians. There will also be an ethically sourced Kathmandu market stall with genuine handmade incense, prayer flags, brass ornaments, jewelry and other handmade items.
Parking at the old settlement and Ned Higgins Lane. Duck feeding 4pm sharp!
