Reflections of the Cape | Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse

Reflections of the Cape: Stories and Images from Our Past draws on more than 150 years of local family records to tell the stories of whaling, fishing families, timber, Caves Road and the early development of the town.  

Located at Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse and curated by the Dunsborough Historical Society, the exhibition is housed in one of the original lighthouse keepers’ cottages. It showcases material gathered and preserved over generations of local families and historians. Visitors can explore stories of salmon fishing at Eagle Bay, whaling at Castle Bay, the timber port at Quindalup, shipwrecks, early transport, beach holidays, cave visits and changes in Dunsborough and the surrounding area over time.

The exhibition at Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse compliments the existing lighthouse experience that shares information on the role of the lighthouse, its lighthouse keepers and the region’s maritime history.

Entry to Reflections of the Cape: Stories and Images from Our Past is included with lighthouse admission and is a self-guided experience.
