Drawn to the shore

Drawn to the Shore brings together three artists whose practices are as diverse as the coastal landscapes that inspire them.

Belinda Birchall works in oil, acrylic, pencil and charcoal, capturing the intimacy of life by the water with sensitivity and depth. Jennifer Sadler creates luminous encaustic works, layering molten wax into surfaces that echo the ebb and flow of the tides. Laura Newbury explores the unique qualities of the collagraph printmaking process, producing one-of-a-kind impressions that embody the rhythms and colours of beachside living. Though their mediums vary — from wax to print, paint to drawing — their shared subject unites them. Together, their works speak of beach and ocean lifestyles: fleeting light, shifting sands, and the deep sense of belonging found were land meets sea.
