Deep Woods Estate, established in 1987, is located on Commonage Road, Yallingup in the northern corner of the premium wine-growing region of Margaret River in Western Australia, close to the town of Dunsborough and the famed surf at Yallingup.
More information In February 2005, Deep Woods was purchased by Perth businessman Peter Fogarty and his family and, together with the iconic Lake's Folly vineyard in the Hunter Valley, Millbrook Winery in the Perth Hills and Smithbrook in Pemberton, forms part of the Fogarty Wine Group. Deep Woods comprises a modern winery, vineyard and cellar door, and with its large spring-fed dam and natural bushland is surely one of Margaret River's most scenic wineries. The property consists of approximately 80 acres (32 hectares) of which 40 acres (16 hectares) are under vine with plantings of Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon. Deep Woods produces wines under the main labels of Deep Woods Reserve; Deep Woods Estate; and Ebony, Ivory, Side By Side and Harmony. The winery took out the 2016 Jimmy Watson Memorial Trophy for producing Australia's best young red wine (2014 Reserve Cabernet), and also received a 5 Red Star rating from James Halliday in his 2016 Australian Wine Companion. The wines produced under the Reserve and Estate labels are made from estate-grown fruit. The remaining labels incorporate fruit purchased from growers in Margaret River and other premium WA regions regions. The Deep Woods Reserve range consists of Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Chardonnay. The Deep Woods Estate range comprises Cabernet Merlot, Shiraz, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Rosé. The entry level range consists of Cabernet Shiraz (Ebony); Semillon Sauvignon Blanc (Ivory), Chardonnay (Side By Side) and Rosé (Harmony). The 2013 Deep Woods Chardonnay won the James Halliday National Chardonnay Challenge in 2014. Visit Website
Great place for wine tasting. Generous tasting sizes and friendly staff. Enjoyable wine as well.
Only 4 atars as I have not yet been there. The Cabernet Shiraz is so easy to drink amd enjoy. Definitely looking forward to my visit in December 2017 and January 2018. Available at a Dan Murphy's store and very reasonably priced. Great work Deep Woods. So looking forward to visiting and experiencing your Estate in Margaret River Western Australia.
Good wines and most of them value for money, if compared to other wineries in the region.
Wonderful wines, especially liked their sparkling & Rosé. The service was friendly and it was a nice vineyard to take a break and look out at the vines on our day of tasting . Highly recommend
