Overview

Sitting beside the tranquil Wilyabrup Brook, the Juniper cellar door is surrounded by cottage gardens and green lawns. The cellar door staff are warm and engaging and can discuss our wines with you at whatever level that you are comfortable with. Our Museum room is filled with carefully cellared wines going back to the turn of the century which are available for purchase. Wine may also be purchased by the glass and enjoyed in an armchair by the wood burning fire in the cooler months, or out at one of the picnic tables on the lawns under the shade of the trees when it’s a bit warmer.

More information

Juniper, Margaret River is one of the original Margaret River vineyards nestled in the picturesque Wilyabrup valley. Our neighbours are Vasse Felix and Cullen to the north and Howard Park to the south-east. The vineyard was planted in 1973 when it was known as Wright's, and was one of the pioneering Margaret River wine producers; along with Vasse Felix, Cape Mentelle, Cullen, Moss Wood and Woodlands, and is dry-grown (unirrigated) to this day.

The present vineyard block was created through subdivision by the well-known Western Australian artist family, the Junipers, after whom it is now named. It’s pretty much a hands on operation – the vines are hand-pruned and hand-picked, and the wine hand-made. Juniper, Margaret River was established by the late Roger Hill and his wife Gillian Anderson with the intention of producing wines which rank among the best to come from Wilyabrup and beyond.

Best tasting experience of the weekend we spent in Margaret River. Friendliest person behind the counter and let us taste pretty much every wine (more than just a tiny sip). He also recommended other estates which was really great to see. We bought a couple bottles but wish we had bought more. Beautiful garden on the estate and the tasting was intimate. We will be back.

One of my favourite places that we visited in MR! The wine was all consistently great! The location is really nice and Steve took us through a very knowledgeable and enjoyable tasting. I was really impressed with a few wines in specific, such as the typical Bordeaux blend - a gorgeous wine!! Thank you for looking after us, Steve!

Nice place to visit for wine tasting whilst in Margaret River. The Chardonnay here is probably the most popular & apparently sells out pretty quickly. We dropped in after a recommendation from another winery however although the wines were nice, we did prefer wines from other wineries which were also not as expensive. The man behind the counter seemed to be just reciting from what had been written down & didn't seem to have any passion about what he was saying. Seemed all to "text book" Obviously wine is personal & everyone has a different interpretation of wine so Juniper Estate is still worth a visit if you like trying different wines ($5 per person fee for tasting which is refundable if you purchase wine). We rate Juniper Estate a 3 out of 5
