Margaret River

Overview

Margaret River has evolved from a chilled out surfie town into the hub of a world renowned wine region. The Margaret River Wine Region (which actually stretches from Busselton in the north to Augusta in the south) produces 3% of Australia’s total wine, but over 15% of Australia’s premium wine, giving you a bit of an insight into just how good the wine here really is. Be sure to make time to enjoy the varied tasting opportunities.

More information

The single main street runs through the centre of town and is lined with a diverse range of specialty shops. Dotted in between you will find pubs, cafes and restaurants where the region’s wine and food come together in spectacular fashion.

A short drive out of Margaret River takes you to the seaside settlement of Prevelly. Located 10km west of the Margaret River township, Prevelly is situated at the mouth of the Margaret River and close to the beachside area of Gnarabup. Prevelly is internationally recognised for its spectacular surfing conditions. Around the corner from the main surf break, Gnarabup provides perfect swimming conditions with white sandy beaches and clear blue waters.

Cafés and accommodation with sweeping ocean views, make Prevelly the ultimate getaway for beach lovers. Venture inland and you'll be dwarfed by some of the world’s tallest hardwood trees, at the Boranup Karri Forest.

Those with a taste for adventure will find thrills with rock climbing, abseiling, mountain biking, canoeing and surfing.
