Miki's Open Kitchen in Margaret River features an open kitchen where guests can watch Miki and his team prepare authentic Japanese dishes.
More information The dishes served won’t be found in Japan. Instead, on the plate you will meet with ingredients that Miki relies on: from the farmer’s hands that work the fertile soil borne by the salt cloaked breeze and natural minerals. Combined with a rich array of local produce and technique of using shallow copper pots. Our dynamic vibe is reflected in the tailor-made degustation. An eclectically curated range of Japanese sake and local wines completes the culinary experience.
Re-visit after eating here 4 yeas ago. Menu has been greatly improved. Ate here with a friend and opted for the AUD80 set menu each. 6 courses in increasing quantities left us well fed at the end with a variety of fish, vegetable and meat dishes. Food excellent, Staff and service excellent Prices competitive
Excellent meal. This is the nearest you’ll get in Australia to a Japanese style omakase meal. The ingredients are generally local and are to that degree different from in Japan but actually much truer to the style by using the best, local, fresh ingredients. We had the complete menu which gives you everything in small portions. We used the full 2 hours of the early seating. A thoroughly enjoyable, tasty, beautifully presented meal with friendly, efficient service.
We had the full chefs menu with sake pairings. 90% of the food was fantastic, 10% was adequate. The staff were great. It's a crowded but still intimate atmoshere. It was worth the money... just.
Neatly adorned degustation joint just off the main Margaret River boulevard with decent offerings. Beef and fish mains were uniquely done, but the highlight was the tempura scallop in the warm entree! Succulent and crispy and fresh. The other courses were fair. Only the dessert was a little underwhelming - in essence a mini Yuzu cupcake Pricing is a little steep but service is superb and swift.
We had the complete menu with sake pairing. Wish I could say I loved it but I didn't find any combinations that exciting. The best dish was easily the salmon rice but everything else felt very 10 years ago?... Half our table did really enjoy at least one dish in each course though. Would rate this a 4 if service by our main waitress was more professional. All other staff were great.
