Multi-award winning premium red and white wines, delicious food, unique gifts, great value and a charming setting.
Woody Nook Wines is a long established family-owned, winery that is small and unpretentious but which has received consistent critical acclaim for the quality of their premium wines.
Nestled in the Margaret River wine-growing area of Western Australia and just a few miles from the Indian Ocean, Woody Nook is situated on a ridge of rich gravelly loam. Its original vines, planted almost forty years ago, are dry farmed, resulting in full fruit flavours and distinctive varietal characteristics. Whether you are familiar with Woody Nook’s crisp, fruit driven whites and rich, firmly-structured reds, or learning about them for the first time, the friendly and knowledgeable cellar door sales staff look forward to welcoming you and helping you to discover their range.
You can enjoy a browse of an excellent range of attractive wine-related gifts, many of them unique to Woody Nook in Australia, all selected with the tourist in mind – quirky, small, lightweight, and inexpensive. There is also a display of local art and jewellery in the Gallery tasting room.
The Nookery Café is set against an impressive backdrop of jarrah and marri forest. It has a rustic, cosy charm both inside the cottage-style building and outside under the shady pergola or on the all-weather alfresco patio by the fish pond. There is also a grassy play area with swings for children and meals especially for them.
Busselton-born Chef Johnathon Merrick and his team use as much of the local area’s meats, cheeses and seafood as possible to create both favourite dishes and daily specials, prepared quickly and served by efficient and friendly wait staff.
Cosy and self-contained Woody Nook House is available for short term rental, with photos and information about its amenities found via the website linked above.

Today we had lunch at Woody Nook where we have lunched on numerous occasions in the past when we have been visiting the Margaret River region. Just before I ate, I went to the toilet at the restaurant and was disgusted with the condition it was in. There was no flush available and there was a sign on the toilet door stating that there was no water due to power problems and anyone using the toilet should utilise the bucket of water and jug outside the cubicle to effect a flush. This was not acceptable, they could have made a better effort to keep the toilet clean as the restaurant was full, maybe a staff member on toilet duties or portable toilets. I do wonder where the staff washed their hands after visiting the toilet as the same bucket had to be used for hand washing. The food was good the service was also good but they should have made a bit more of an effort as they failed miserably here. I did mention to staff on leaving that if I had had not already paid for my drinks I would have left and they did apologise but they need to think about health standards when or if this type of situation arises again.

A truely professional and enjoyable wine tasting experience. The wine expert Greg went over and above in making sure our wine taste experience was both knowledgeable and fun! We had a group of 10 so they had us seated in a separate room which was all setup perfectly for a comfortable wine tasting experience. Be sure to call ahead if you are a larger group so they can be ready for you.

What a charming and friendly spot for lunch and wine tasting. Could not have been more happy with the service and setting. I went on a whim in the afternoon but will definitely make it a stop on my next visit.

Five of us arrived without a reservation, and the staff were welcoming and helpful, holding a table in the café for us while we tasted the wines. The tasting was a fun experience, staff knowledgeable and friendly with a large selection of excellent wines offered. We enjoyed a bottle with a delicious meal.
