Located on the east side of Cape Naturaliste, this calm, turquoise bay is protected from the westerly winds and ocean swell. Perfect for swimming, fishing and relaxing and a picturesque spot for a picnic with gas BBQs, picnic tables and wheelchair access. Castle Rock is located at the end of Castle Bay, accessed by a meander along the beach or via the Meelup Trail offering incredible views.
If you're a lover of wildflowers, this is the place to come - head east on the coastal track towards Castle Rock and the whale lookout or head west towards Meelup Beach and you'll find several varieties of Spider, Mustard, Jug, Donkey and possibly the rare Cape Orchid. Native Rose, Pimeleas Hooded Lily and Acacias (Wattles) can also be spotted here.

It is also a great surf break if you venture off the beach. When the swells are big and dangerous along the coast head to Castle Rock - it is protected and holds good swell with great long rides.

Beautiful area! Car park is close by with long drop loos. Meelup beach is a 2km walk away with flushing loos and showers. Beautiful coastal area to explore. Very interesting also to see the dividing line between the fire and non affected area. Such a contrast! Lovely water...So clear. The flies were too friendly tho!

Easy quick walk to reach this beautiful natural formation. Accessible via bush trail or from the beach. A fun activity for the kids as they spotted some crabs hiding amongst the rocks.

If you're driving down from Eagle Bay, you're probably thinking that this coast is on an absolute roll. Basically each beach you're stopping by is prettier than the one before it. I love Castle Rock because of well, the rocks, the view of the water and the trail that leads up to Meelup. It's places like Castle Rock that make you realise how special this corner of the globe really is.

We decided to walk a 7.0 km walk return from Dunsborough beach to Meelup Beach. Just around the 2.5 km point from Dunsborough we can to a small outcrop called Castle Rock. You can climb up it, but we decided not to as it was beginning to get hot and we wanted to complete the walk before the greatest heat occurred.
