Hippo Lakes was born out of a dream, 28 years ago to provide a space for families and their friends to get together, interact or share, whatever the occasion. Situated on 30 acres of land and lake, is a family-owned cafe, farm shop and events venue overlooking magnificent gardens.

The Farm Shop is home to the well-known and loved "The Fat Hippo" range of chutneys and South African delicacies, all made here in the South West alongside other taste local gourmet produce, unique gift ideas and fresh, farm-picked flowers.

I had an amazing sweet chilli squid salad. I was with a large group (20 people) and we were given a private room and all received our meal at the same time. Fantastic outlook. Such a find in the middle of nowhere.

Warm beautiful environment, lots of locals, staff very friendly. Soup fantastic, scones melt in your mouth. Heaps of parking.
Plenty of room for kids to wonder supervised. None today.

Our rather large group (47 of us) got together for our Christmas party at Hippo Lakes last weekend.
What an outstanding venue. The service from Elizabeth and her team was outstanding.
We had a pre arranged menu and had pre ordered, all of us had a beautiful lunch in front of us with 15 minutes of being seated.
These guys go above and beyond and their service and food is second to none.
Thank you Hippo Lakes fur making our day so special.
I highly recommend them for that special event you need to plan, or just a cheeky lunch/morning tea date with friends and family.

What an absolute delight! We stopped for scones, jam and cream and also chocolate brownie, was pretty speccy. The terrace and lawn area are lovely. We met one of the owners she was lovely, gave us a bit of a run down on the place. Worth a visitđź‘Ť
