South by South West is a small-batch artisan winemaker based in Margaret River, Western Australia. Formed in 2016 and run by girl bosses Liv Maiorana and Mijan Patterson, South by South West are all about producing honest wines.
They craft terroir and vintage driven wines that combine respect for the land, the methods the grapes are farmed by, and how they are handled in the winery. Mij’s attention lies in the vineyard side of the operation by managing their naturally farmed vineyard in the Wallcliffe subregion, as well as working with a team of loyal growers in the south west to source additional fruit. Liv’s focus is on the winemaking side which is motivated by making expressive wines that are true to vineyard, true to vintage, and tasty.
Every bottle of South by South West wine aims to celebrate a little of what is special about the south west.

Had the most amazing experience wine tasting. Liv was here to walk us through and so authentic. Wearing workbooks straight out of the farm this was the real hands on approach with the women farming these great wines giving us a real insight on the art of wine making

So happy to have stumbled across this awesome winery! It is a hidden gem and the winemaker Liv was very informative and friendly. We ended up getting three different bottles of their wine. The wines here are different to the ‘generic’ wines of the region. Highly recommended visit.

Do yourself a favour and make the trip out to this gorgeous little cellar door. The wines are superb, with some really interesting blends that you won't see anywhere else in this region. Fantastic cellar door host and overall a great experience. We'll definitely be back!

Located just 4kms off Bussel Highway, north of Witchcliffe village, South by Southwest is worth the drive.
Some excellent wines to try, with a Sicilian flavour.
The wine tasting fee of $15 is steep, even for Margaret River. And we were very disappointed to find that even when you buy a bottle of wine the tasting fee is not waived.
I understand why fees were introduced.
Yet, most wineries play fair and if you buy wine the fee is waived.
Not here. Whilst we enjoyed the wines, this lack of fairness puts us off repeat visits.
This is our 60th cellar door in the region and I can count on one hand how often this happens.
