Adamsons Riverside sits thirty metres from the riverbank, where the bridge brings you into Margaret River town. The front gardens are the ones spilling over the fence on your left as you cross: roses, hydrangeas, and birds drifting in from the forest.

It makes an unusually walkable base. The bottom of town begins less than a minute from the door, with three restaurants, two of them at Bridgefield across the road, the Margaret River Bakery, Two Cracks Coffee, Temper Temper Fine Chocolate, Red Sea Gallery and the Sons and Daughters cellar door. The main street is two minutes further up the hill. The other way leads to the Old Settlement Museum and the Hairy Marron bike hire and café, with the walking and mountain-bike trails of Wooditjup National Park beyond. Pacific Black Ducks and Wood Ducks come up from the river into the gardens, and from early spring to late autumn guests are welcome at the 4pm feeding, a tradition kept here for more than a decade using proper duck feed rather than bread. Adamsons also hosts Duckhouse Sessions, intimate live-music afternoons featuring musicians from the region, Perth and abroad.
