Sitting beside the tranquil Wilyabrup Brook, the Juniper cellar door is surrounded by cottage gardens and green lawns. The staff are warm and engaging and can discuss their wines with you at whatever level that you are comfortable with. Juniper's Museum room offers carefully cellared wines going back to the turn of the century, which are available for purchase by the bottle or by the glass to be enjoyed in an armchair by the wood-burning fire in the cooler months, or out at one of the picnic tables on the lawns under the shade of the trees when it’s warm.
Juniper is one of the original Margaret River vineyards nestled in the picturesque Wilyabrup valley. It's neighbours are Vasse Felix and Cullen to the north and Howard Park to the south-east. The vineyard was planted in 1973 when it was known as Wright's, and was one of the pioneering Margaret River wine producers, along with Vasse Felix, Cape Mentelle, Cullen, Moss Wood and Woodlands. It is dry-grown (unirrigated) to this day and certified 'Sustainable' under the audited Sustainable Wine Australia scheme.

The present vineyard block was created through subdivision by the well-known Western Australian artist family, the Junipers, after whom it is now named. It’s pretty much a hands-on operation – the vines are hand-pruned and hand-picked, and the wine hand-made.  Juniper was established by the late Roger Hill and his wife Gillian Anderson with the intention of producing wines that rank among the best to come from Wilyabrup and beyond.

Stopped in here for a wine tasting on my birthday and was treated beautifully by the 2 employees on that day. We were predominantly served by Max who had great charisma and explained the different wines to us. We had many favourites but purchased the Aquitaine Rouge as we were limited with bag space travelling home. Very lovely experience and would happily go back again. Stunning gardens as well, very picturesque!

Came here after visiting the “big boys” of Margaret River (several of which were quite disappointing tbh) Juniper turned out to be a master class in hospitality and showed how a cellar door tasting can be run. Spent 1.5h there when we only planned to stay for a quick 30 min tasting. I wholeheartedly recommend guests visit Juniper instead of one of better known wineries in MR. We walked out with a cab 2015 and shiraz 2008 but more importantly super memories. Thanks team!

Walking into Juniper was like walking into a secret garden, surprise after another. Aghast by how beautiful it looks in the spring, interior and exterior. Wine options were uniquely crafted. Max made our wine tasting experience an 11/10 if I could rate beyond. Easily one of the top highlights of my trip down south. Can’t wait to be back again!

First time my partner and myself have been to Junipers, we are spoilt for choice by so many wonderful wineries and restaurants in our little corner of Western Australia. We keep returning to our favourites but we want to explore so many others. It was a very pleasant weekend with the weather so we went to one of favourites in the afternoon on Saturday and being fine again we went to Junipers Estate on Sunday afternoon. We did hope they might have have a cheese platters or grazing board but unfortunately they weren't available at the time, next time we'll bring our own little cheese board and snacks and either have it along with our wine on the chairs and tables by the babbling brook or inside by the fire. The tasting board had the food types matched up with the wines we tasting which helped with our purchases. Sean our tasting host was exceptionally friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the wines and the history of the local area. We can highly recommend a visit, perhaps grab some cheeses and other goodies to make your own little grazing boards and purchase some of the delicious wines from the cellar door, guaranteed not to be disappointed.
