Frenzal Rhomb I The River
Description
Frenzal Rhomb’s Sans Souci turns 23 – it’s a celebration !
Here at Frenzal Rhomb, the number 23 has always been important to us. 23 pairs of human chromosomes, William Burroughs’ 23 enigma, Psalm 23 in the bible, “the Lord is my shepherd”; they’ve always been big with shepherds.
Actually, that’s all nonsense, they just missed the 20th and the world may not make it until the 25th, so this year they are celebrating the 23rd anniversary of Sans Souci!
The difficult sixth album, Sans Souci saw us back with Camel producer Eddie Ashworth for sixteen sweet servings of shrewd social commentary slid inside some superb punk pop skins, including the green-tinged morality tale of “Bucket Bong”, the complicated relationship drama of “I Went Out With A Hippy And Now I Love Everyone Except For Her”, even trying their hand at sports metal with “Punisher”.
There was the Kernaghanesque “Looking Good”, the Gastro-rock of “Ballchef”, and that song about Russell Crowe’s band we’ve been advised by our lawyers not to talk about. And heaps more! And they are going to play them all on the Frenzal Rhomb Sans Souci 23rd Anniversary Tour.
A marquee event! And it’s still French for “no worries”.
