What is Seen, What is Said | Arts Margaret River

At just 15, local photographer Anoushka Lange is already developing a distinctive photographic voice.

In 2025, Anoushka took part in Arts Margaret River’s Elders in Our Community Project, an experience that led to an invitation to join the photography and videography team at the 2026 Margaret River Readers & Writers Festival as a trainee photographer.

Working alongside experienced photographers and a contingent of younger people involved in the Festival, Anoushka found herself immersed in the intensity and unpredictability of a major cultural event. She thrived in the fast-paced environment, demonstrating confidence, generosity and an extraordinary ability to capture compelling moments.

“Anoushka was genuinely extraordinary… everyone was extremely impressed,” says Arts Margaret River’s Christopher Young. “She was confident, hard working, supportive of others, respectful of our patrons and – most importantly – very apt at getting amazing shots. Super human stuff really!”

Her school, Margaret River Montessori, describes the experience as “enormously meaningful” and a “rich and inspiring learning experience”, while School Principal, Lisa Fenton says: “What a phenomenal experience for Anouk. We are so grateful for the mentorship extended to her.”
