Located in the heart of the picturesque Margaret River wine appellation, Bussells Bushland Cottages is a gazetted “Land for Wildlife” and “Wildlife Land Trust” sanctuary. The rustic charm of these 8 well-appointed (self-contained) rammed-earth cottages is complemented by the natural (20 hectare) bush block, well treed with jarrah, marri, banksia and peppermint trees; and home to prolific birdlife, possums, brush-tailed phascogales (wambengers), bandicoots and kangaroos.
Bussells Bushland Cottages is a 20 hectare (50 acre) "Land for Wildlife" property, located 5kms north-west of Margaret River township.

8 rammed-earth cottages set apart in order to preserve privacy and are self-contained with full kitchen, dining and living facilities, an outdoor BBQ, wood-fired potbelly stove in the living room and ceiling fans in all bedrooms (except those with double bunks). Each cottage shares 1 bathroom.

Walk trails criss-cross the bush block which has wonderful stands of old-growth jarrah, marri, banksia and peppermint trees, as well as being home to a wide variety of bird life and mobs of kangaroos. A simple 'starter' breakfast is provided for the first morning, otherwise this is a self-catering property.  Wi-Fi is available free-of-charge. Although limited, it should be adequate for e-mails and streaming.

Absolutely love the cottage! I would fly to Australia and visit Perth again just to stay at Bussells Bushland Cottages. Love the quietness and serenity. We can hear animals fighting while we sleeping and it’s pretty interesting. Free roaming kangaroos at our front porch in the morning, kids are crazy about it! There’s a walking trail behind our cottage which we had no time to explore. We will do it next time for sure! Service wise, nothing much to shout out, no room service during our stay. However milk and orange juice are provided in the fridge before we arrived. One downside, toilet is kinda aged, floor can get slippery although there’s a curtain that separates the shower and dry area but water splashes out still. Wish they provide non-slip slippers for guest, especially kids and elderly.

Cosey retreat, nice and quiet, with pleasing woodland views, kangaroos grazing outside, and a warm potbelly to keep it warm and comfy. Streaming service also handy (for an evening watching movies). Beds are comfy, and facilities cater well. Stayed several times, and look forward to more.

Had a lovely four-night stay at the cottages! Very clean cottages that provided milk, juice and first day’s breakfast. LOVED seeing kangaroos every morning and evening. Heads up it’s in the bush so you will hear possums on the roof at night and hear animals at night. My only “negative” feedback is that check out states 10am but multiple spots mention returning keys between 8:30-9:30 so found it a bit confusing/feels like you’re being asked to leave before check out. Either way will recommend Bussells to anyone travelling to MR!
