Just 20 minutes from Margaret River, Shambala Nature Retreat offers the rare feeling of being completely immersed in nature while remaining within easy reach of the region’s renowned coastline, wineries, restaurants, galleries and experiences.
Set across 118 acres of native bushland and bordering expansive State Forest, Shambala is an intentional forest sanctuary designed for meaningful experiences, deep rest and genuine connection.
Stay in the Woodland HiveAt the heart of Shambala is the Woodland Hive, an architecturally designed, solar-passive rammed-earth pavilion surrounded by forest. Its distinctive octagonal, open-plan design centres around a wood fireplace — a natural gathering place for slow mornings, shared meals and evenings spent together around the hearth.
Sleeping groups of 4–12, the Hive is particularly suited to friends and families, milestone birthdays, women’s weekends, creative getaways, intimate celebrations and small groups wanting something more memorable than conventional accommodation.
Rather than separate bedrooms, its unique open-plan sleeping spaces and mezzanine create a communal style of staying that reflects the spirit of Shambala: gathering, sharing and reconnecting.
Guests regularly remark on the extraordinary tranquillity of the property — and how deeply they sleep amongst the trees. Here, mornings begin with birdsong, forest views surround the Hive, and the pace of everyday life feels a very long way away.
A unique Margaret River retreat venueShambala is also an established venue for small group retreats, wellness experiences and creative gatherings, with many retreat hosts returning year after year.
Just a short walk from the Woodland Hive, the 90sqm Yoga Shala looks directly into native forest and provides a dedicated space for yoga, meditation, movement, workshops, group sessions and creative practices.
An outdoor forest grove with festoon lighting provides another atmospheric gathering space beneath the trees, while the surrounding property offers ample opportunity for walking, reflection and time immersed in nature.
Groups can simply hire the spaces and create their own experience, or enhance their stay with tailored offerings such as private yoga, bodywork, Ayurveda, embodiment and movement experiences, ceremony, live music and nourishing catering.
