The Story of Yelverton Brook

Joy & Simon purchased Yelverton Brook as a 100-acre virgin bush block in 1988 and with a passion for all things nature and a strong organic ethos, their dream was to establish a tourism venture with green ideals. Each of the Lodges & Studios has been lovingly hand-built from sustainably sourced materials and features environmentally sensitive design. They are positioned into existing, natural bushland clearings in order to ensure a low environmental impact and as little disturbance to nature as possible. As a result, each is nestled in an amphitheatre of forest, creating privacy for guests and a feeling of seclusion.

In 2001, with the help of volunteers from the Australian Conservation Trust, they installed a custom-built predator-proof fence surrounding the whole 100 acres. This marked the transformation of the property into a Wildlife Conservation Sanctuary. Yelverton Brook now acts as a safe release site for critically endangered native wildlife and is home to a host of Australian animals, including three critically endangered species. Their work is also helping native Australian flora to thrive, returning the bushland to an ‘Eden status’ which provides a safe haven to over 50 species of birdlife.

we stayed at their Lodge over the past weekend and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! Joy and Simon were great hosts, and the place was really well-maintained and clean. whatever you needed, they would already have provided. the kids loved getting visits from kangaroos and possums and birds right at our doorstep. as for us adults, we loved being surrounded by nature and enjoying the serenity of the place. i highly recommend this place!

Our family of four, including two young children under six, had an absolutely wonderful time staying here. The property is exceptionally clean and well-maintained, providing a very comfortable and relaxing environment. Our kids were thrilled to interact with the friendly kangaroos, possums, and birds — all of which were approachable, gentle, and appeared very healthy and well cared for. The hot tub was a highlight, offering stunning views that changed beautifully from day to night. This has been one of the most comfortable and memorable stays we’ve had in Perth. We highly recommend this place for couples seeking a romantic getaway or families with young children looking for a special and peaceful retreat.

It’s one of my favourite places in Australia. The wildlife visits your backyard- Kangaroos, Bandicoots, Possums, Rabbit, Fairy wrens and many more types of birds. It’s quiet and surrounded by trees and quite private. Location is great, a short drive to many things to see and do. The house has everything you need and the owners Joy and Simon are genuine great people who are easy to talk to. Perfect place to get away from city life and unwind.

We had a wonderful stay with Yelverton Brook. We met and feed the kangaroos, possums and birds. My son and my parents were so happy to meet these little creatures. The property is clean and got everything we needed. We just need to bring our belongings, sit and relax.
