The Story of Yelverton Brook

Joy & Simon purchased Yelverton Brook as a 100-acre virgin bush block in 1988 and with a passion for all things nature and a strong organic ethos, their dream was to establish a tourism venture with green ideals. Each of the Lodges & Studios has been lovingly hand-built from sustainably sourced materials and features environmentally sensitive design. They are positioned into existing, natural bushland clearings in order to ensure a low environmental impact and as little disturbance to nature as possible. As a result, each is nestled in an amphitheatre of forest, creating privacy for guests and a feeling of seclusion.

In 2001, with the help of volunteers from the Australian Conservation Trust, they installed a custom-built predator-proof fence surrounding the whole 100 acres. This marked the transformation of the property into a Wildlife Conservation Sanctuary. Yelverton Brook now acts as a safe release site for critically endangered native wildlife and is home to a host of Australian animals, including three critically endangered species. Their work is also helping native Australian flora to thrive, returning the bushland to an ‘Eden status’ which provides a safe haven to over 50 species of birdlife.

My daughter and I stayed here over a year ago, so belated review that I've always been meaning to get to because our stay was fantastic. A lovely experience stay that I haven't seen anywhere else in WA. The location is very serene and private. The chalet was lovely and spacious. Joy and Simon were very welcoming. The best part was seeing all the wildlife up close. My daughter could get involved and had a ball. The nighttime mania over the feed was the best. We saw more wildlife than we ever had before. The spa in amongst the bush was a relaxing added bonus! Thanks so much Joy and Simon!

Absolutely wonderful. The chalet was well equipped and everything was very well thought out. There was not a thing that we might need hadn't been provided. It's super serene sitting in your spa nestled among the trees in the sunshine. There's even food provided for you to feed to all the local wildlife. Joy and Simon have created a real gem hidden here and we will be back many times in the future.

Best part of our trip!!!! Kangaroos come right up to you; possums and bandicoots at night; lovely birds during the day. Beautiful and peaceful setting. Lovely cabin. Wish I could stay forever!!

We just can't get enough of this place. It's the perfect retreat for anyone. Single? Perfect. Couple? Perfect. Friends? Perfect. Family? Perfect. We come every year as a family, to disconnect from the city life. We get to just sit and enjoy nature, and relax under the stars. Also love a good fungi hunt, this place even has the bioluminescence fungi which was a real treat. Joy and Simon are amazing, and they always have good stories to tell as well. We've had to try other places occasionally due to Joy and Simon taking a much deserved holiday themselves, and can honestly say that nothing has even come close to what Joy and Simon offer. Keep it up!
