The Story of Yelverton Brook

Joy & Simon purchased Yelverton Brook as a 100-acre virgin bush block in 1988 and with a passion for all things nature and a strong organic ethos, their dream was to establish a tourism venture with green ideals. Each of the Lodges & Studios has been lovingly hand-built from sustainably sourced materials and features environmentally sensitive design. They are positioned into existing, natural bushland clearings in order to ensure a low environmental impact and as little disturbance to nature as possible. As a result, each is nestled in an amphitheatre of forest, creating privacy for guests and a feeling of seclusion.

In 2001, with the help of volunteers from the Australian Conservation Trust, they installed a custom-built predator-proof fence surrounding the whole 100 acres. This marked the transformation of the property into a Wildlife Conservation Sanctuary. Yelverton Brook now acts as a safe release site for critically endangered native wildlife and is home to a host of Australian animals, including three critically endangered species. Their work is also helping native Australian flora to thrive, returning the bushland to an ‘Eden status’ which provides a safe haven to over 50 species of birdlife.

This place is really peaceful and a great way to de-stress. The interaction with the local animals is amazing, with kangaroos and woylies almost knocking on the door looking for a treat. The accomodation is good, and has everything you need when staying away from home. The chalets are spaced really well so you can have a private getaway. We love the private spa and relax in there 2 or 3 times a day.

Outstanding accommodation and fantastic hosts Joy and Simon, with the best close up wildlife experience, and a luxurious open air spa to watch the stars at night. Chalets are generously spacious and well heated for extra comfort in chilly winter days. The surrounding bushland is absolutely beautiful with native flora including orchids in winter. Highly recommended 👌

Spent 3 nights at Yelverton. It is a beautiful tranquil place and had multiple visits from Kangaroos, possums and saw a Woylie for the first time. Great spot to explore Margaret River from and then escape back to your own bushland paradise and relax in the outdoor spa. Joy was on hand instantly to answer any questions we had. Thanks guys for the holiday and we will be back for another bush escape.

Jess and I loved staying at this place while holidaying in the south west of Western Australia. It is not far from Margaret River. The best part was the native animals which came to welcome us every morning and night.. The Kangaroos wanted to be fed by hand and the possums and bandicoots were fed in bowls. Enjoyed having a spar after a day of visiting wineries . A spar under the stars, very relaxing. Our hosts Simon and Joy were very helpful and friendly. They told us all about the popular places to visit and provided us with eggs from their chooks and milk. The beds were very comfortable and the chalet was very clean.
