The Best Family Friendly Breweries with Playgrounds

This corner of South West Western Australia is one of the most family friendly regions you could ever visit.

There are so many fantastic, unique restaurants in the area that cater for families so everyone can go out, relax and have a great time.

Boutique breweries in Your Margaret River Region often have restaurants on their grounds so people can sample their wares in a responsible and enjoyable manner. The quality of food is excellent with a strong emphasis on using local produce. Some even have gardens on their grounds so they can grow their own food!

While Your Margaret River Region in general is very welcoming to families, there are a few breweries that have gone a step further and installed big outdoor playgrounds.

3DucksteinWith two very energetic little boys I find these restaurants a fantastic place to visit for lunch. Most of them have tables right next to the playground so I can sit and enjoy my meal while watching my kids have fun and burn off some energy.

I have put together a list of our favourite family friendly breweries in Your Margaret River Region with playgrounds for your family to enjoy.

1. Bootleg Brewery, Wilyabrup

The Bootleg Brewery is a local favourite, well renowned for its fun laid back vibe, wide open spaces and gourmet Deep Fried Mars Bar.

They often have some of my artists, like Johnny Taylor, play music in a casual setting. As a mum this is a rare treat, it’s not often I get to listen to live music while I am enjoying my lunch!

At Bootleg Brewery they have fun and games for the whole family. For the kids they have a big shaded playground with tables and seating right next to it and lots of room to run around.

There is also a kids menu, high chairs and baby change facilities.

For kids at heart they have Giant Jenga, table games, a lookout tower and fun event’s like the South West Mudfest.

Cheeky Monkey is the most famous family friendly brewery in Your Margaret River Region and it’s not hard to see why.

They have a large, colourful, modern playground that is fully fenced for safety. There are tables situated right next to the playground and they have a great kids menu. Cheeky Monkey also has activity packs, high chairs and baby change facilities for the little ones.

The food, beer and cider at the Cheeky Monkey is top notch. Their beers are made from fresh local rainwater and contain no preservatives.

The food is delicious and they use high quality local produce like Leeuwin Grass Fed Beef.

3Colonial 3. Colonial Brewing Company, Margaret River

Set amongst lush green pastures, gardens and vineyards The Colonial Brewing Co is the quintessential Margaret River brewery.

Popular with locals and visitors alike, the Colonial is well known for their award winning beers, chicken wings and great family friendly atmosphere.

Indoors they have a kids’ corner with toys, books, colouring in paper and pencils perfect rainy days.

Outside they have a huge playground that you can sit right next to, outdoor toys, sporting equipment and lots of room to run around.

I am a big fan of their garden and unique décor including their custom built “Growler” chandeliers and life size, 3D cow art.

Little ones are well catered for with a kids menu, high chairs, baby change facilities and ramp access.

Just outside the idyllic community “Cow Town”, between Busselton and Margaret River, lays the Cowaramup Brewery.

Everyone is welcome at the Cowaramup Brewery including dogs!

You might even see some cows inside ordering a beer. Last year my family and I went to the Cowaramup Brewery for lunch after attending Deja-Moo, a cow themed festival where people dress up as cows (they actually broke the Guinness World Records last year for the most people in one area dressed as cows!).

The restaurant quickly filled up with people from the festival still in full cow costume. It was a sight to be seen!

There is a playground outside with views of the adjoining Treeton Estate Winery and lush green fields. The Cowaramup Brewery is a great family friendly place, with a relaxed atmosphere, brilliant food and beer, in a peaceful location.

They are well known for their pizza but they have great selection of wholesome hearty food and a kids menu too.

For the young ones there is also a bouncy castle, activity packs, baby change facilities and high chairs.

This is very handy to know! I’ll be sharing for all our friends with children visiting the area. Plus it’s great having a list instead of searching all the websites looking for venues with playgrounds. Thanks!
