Where to Stay

Big4 Beachlands

The Big4 Beachlands Holiday Park offers a generous range of facilities and accommodation options to suit all family sizes and budgets. Seeking comfort? Stay in a self-contained luxury bungalow, villa or chalet. Prefer to set up camp? Find yourself a spot in the holiday park, just minutes from a beautiful swimming beach. Caravans are welcome too.

There’s no such thing as boredom here, with facilities ranging from a solar-heated pool and an epic “splash and play” zone, to a bright playground filled with slides, tunnels and spinners, a giant jumping pillow, pedal karts and the only NEOS 360 in a holiday park in Western Australia. This is one of the best examples of ‘family friendly’ Busselton has to offer.

Amalfi Resort

If a more relaxed atmosphere is what you´re after, head straight to Amalfi Resort; a delightful spot with spacious, self-contained accommodation situated just a short stroll from the beach. The nearby beach is perfect for swimming, relaxing or fishing. Hire one of their bikes to ride the Geographe Bay cycle-walkway track along the coast. Prefer to stay in? Make use of a full sized tennis court, an all year round outdoor heated swimming pool, spa pool, children’s wading pool and playground.

Find yourself a peaceful spot under the shady trees for those hot summer days, smell the sweet perfume of lavender & rosemary bushes bordering the gardens. Handpick a lemon or another fruit from their trees while enjoying this precious time with your loved ones.

Where to Eat

The Good Egg

Ethically-sourced beans and a space for all your creative needs, The Good Egg is a Busselton gem. This earthy industrial style café is a great place to bring the family, with a dedicated kids play area downstairs specifically designed to spark their imagination with interactive wall mounted toys.  Walk in and you´ll find a lovely, modern setting with a casual feel, as well as delicious food, generous portions and a home to an even better story.

Rise And Co

Good food and good coffee? Sometimes it´s tough to find both in one spot, but we think Rise And Co. artisan bakery and café is doing it right.  We’re talking artisan bread, French pastries and tarts, and a kicking brekkie menu for the whole family. With ample indoor and outdoor seating, you won’t feel cramped. Plus, there is a takeaway coffee window if you prefer to keep it moving.

The Urban Coffee House

Furry friends are included in our definition of family, so we included The Urban Coffee House as a place to rest and grab an aromatic and delicious coffee.  Located just a 10-minute walk from the beach, this trendy café has heaps of space to sit, relax and enjoy your beverage.  Dogs are welcome to sit by your side in the outdoor seating area.

Spice Odysee The Hidden Kitchen

Busselton is lucky to be home to Spice Odysee, The Hidden Kitchen. This brick and mortar location of Chef Sathish Kumar, whose curries grew to local fame with his Curry Van, has locals and tourists raving. Families will enjoy his mouth-watering, authentic Indian cuisine in the restaurant’s relaxed atmosphere. Worried about spicy food? Don’t! Spice Odysee caters to all levels of spice, so it makes it the perfect spot for you and your kids to expand your palates.

Equinox Restaurant & Bar

Equinox Restaurant & Bar is also famous for their glittering bay and Busselton Jetty views, but their specialty lies in solid upscale pub fare like a next-level chicken parmi that makes for essential family-friendly eating, or a classic fish and chips. As a bonus, it’s located next to an awesome adventure playground so kids can burn off some steam.

Things To Do

Koomal Dreaming Cultural Tours

Get to know Busselton and surrounds in a deeper, more meaningful way with an Aboriginal cultural experience with Koomal Dreaming, an Indigenous-owned business offering education in bush food, seasonality, culture and the importance of connection to Country. Tours share information and stories about the native landscape and history through the eyes of local Aboriginal people, the Wadandi people.  These range from guided bushwalks where you can learn about native flora and fauna, to coastal fishing experiences and didgeridoo music sessions.

Busselton Foreshore

This is the epicentre of family fun in Busselton. Beachfront, clean and well-maintained, and more importantly, filled with ample space to play, walk, bike, skate, and enjoy the view, many an hour can be spent at the Busselton Foreshore. Hire SUP boards or see-through kayaks, let the kids play at the shaded nautical-themed playground, make use of the BBQ facilities, or let your kids ride around in the giant skatepark.

Busselton Jetty

The longest jetty in the Southern Hemisphere is right here in Busselton. Stretching 1,841metres out to sea, the Busselton Jetty is an impressive landmark that draws families all through the year. Enjoy a leisurely stroll out to the end with an up close and personal view of the ocean surrounding you, or hop aboard the vintage-inspired, steam-engine replica train that takes you nearly all the way to the end in comfort. Disembark and you´ll be greeted by the Underwater Observatory. Thanks to the pylons of the Busselton Jetty, Australia’s greatest artificial reef has had an incredible environment to grow. You can look below your feet and see a visually stunning reef filled of sponges, tropical corals, and hundreds of marine species.

Check out these two must-do experiences at the Busselton Jetty.

Forest Adventures Kid Activities

Forest Adventures South West

Get outside your comfort zone and dial up the adrenaline at Forest Adventures South West. Kids big and small can go full Tarzan: from a unicycle through the Tuart Forest, to balancing on suspended bridges and high ropes course, a 13-metre base jump, or BMX on a wire. The courses are challenging, but extremely fun and fully safe and supervised. Tickets start at $36 and reservations are highly recommended as slots get booked up quickly. Participants must be 7 years or older and minimum 110cm tall, book directly via their website here.

Summer Pick

If you’re visiting Busselton in the warmer months, your days will be filled with sun – and there´s nothing better than an epic beach day spent snorkelling, swimming and smiling with your little loved ones. Thanks to the natural curve of Geographe Bay, the beaches in Busselton are more protected and thus perfect for swimming. Plus, the city is abuzz with events all throughout the warmer months, like the Ironman Triathlon, the Busselton Jetty Swim, Busselton Fringe and Geographe Bay Race Week.  Get ready to slab on that sunscreen, order an extra scoop of ice cream and enjoy a beach holiday with the whole family.

Winter Pick

Come through Busselton in the winter and you’ll escape the crowds to get a more intimate feel for the area. It´s the perfect time to throw on those jumpers, get cosy with family while relaxing inside your hotel, many of which have heated pools and ocean views. Head to The Fire Station, a pub and live music venue with an open wood fire on Queen Street. Play a few board games from their games shelf, enjoy a glass of wine or cold beer while getting toasty near the fire. You get bonus points for coming down for Cabin Fever, a food, wine and beer festival hosted throughout the Margaret River Region in July.
