Originating as a viticulture company, this small family business has grown to craft its own wines, transforming its finest parcels into quality drops alongside winemaker Paul Atwood. The goal: to produce small-batch wines that are both approachable and affordable, without ever compromising on quality. Prioritising craftsmanship over volume, each bottle reflects a genuine commitment to creating exceptional wines for everyone to enjoy.

From humble beginnings in the family vineyard and orchard, Ted Borrello learned the craft of grape growing alongside his father, later passing this passion and skill to his son, Carl. Together with his wife Carla, Carl founded Down to Earth in Margaret River, where their team cultivated and managed vineyards across Western Australia. As their expertise grew, so did their desire to craft wines from the exceptional fruit they nurtured. Today, with four generations of viticultural experience, the Borrello label creates small-batch, low-intervention wines that showcase the true character of each varietal and the land where it’s grown.

We had a wonderful experience today tasting these beautiful Italian wines served by the extremely knowledgeable and friendly cellar door manager Julie. After purchasing and joining their wine club we also decided to purchase some pasta, sauce and cheese to take home. Also next door is Vintners cellar door and restaurant. Food, wine and service excellent. Both these venues are well worth a stop in Witchcliffe you certainly won’t be disappointed

Beautiful cellar door - we really loved all the wines and their fabulous Rose. Julie was incredibly knowledgeable and made the whole experience really great. Highly recommend anyone visiting the Margaret River region to visit!

Great wine tasting and you can have the most amazing chicken satay in the world from the charcoal chef next door whilst you sip your wines.

Julie was fantastic! She had such a good way of explaining this down to earth winery. We enjoyed how authentic and relaxed they present the excellent selection of wines. We ended up with a box and a membership. Very good wines served up with a smile.
