Originating as a viticulture company, this small family business has grown to craft its own wines, transforming its finest parcels into quality drops alongside winemaker Paul Atwood. The goal: to produce small-batch wines that are both approachable and affordable, without ever compromising on quality. Prioritising craftsmanship over volume, each bottle reflects a genuine commitment to creating exceptional wines for everyone to enjoy.

From humble beginnings in the family vineyard and orchard, Ted Borrello learned the craft of grape growing alongside his father, later passing this passion and skill to his son, Carl. Together with his wife Carla, Carl founded Down to Earth in Margaret River, where their team cultivated and managed vineyards across Western Australia. As their expertise grew, so did their desire to craft wines from the exceptional fruit they nurtured. Today, with four generations of viticultural experience, the Borrello label creates small-batch, low-intervention wines that showcase the true character of each varietal and the land where it’s grown.

Borrello Vineyards is a beautiful example of what makes the Margaret River wine region so special. There’s a real sense of place here relaxed, welcoming and grounded in the land, with people who are genuinely passionate about what they produce. The experience feels personal rather than polished for the sake of it, and that’s part of its charm. Great wine, warm hospitality and a lovely opportunity to slow down and enjoy the region properly. Definitely one to add to your Margaret River list. Five stars from Navasha Semmens & Unleashed Collective.

It was such a pleasure to visit borello wines and their beautiful cellar manager Julie. She is such a knowledgeable and passionate woman and we learn something new from her everytime. What a wonderful addition to the business. The venue is clean and warm and somewhere we could spend hours talking. Thankyou so much, see you next year!

Absolutely amazing cellar door, so cosy on a cold day with the best Shiraz I have ever tasted. Pork and pino event was so well organised and freakin delicious!!! Great place to stop off and get a delicious wine ❤️❤️❤️
