Peacetree Estate

Peacetree Estate was established in 1995 with the planting of 180 Olive trees. While it's still a contentious issue around their family dinner table, the name was taken from the olive branch symbolising peace and the hardy trees that they planted. John and Jane along, with their parents and their four sons, planted the trees, which were then upstaged the following winter by the planting of five acres of Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon cuttings. In 2001 and after three years of growing for Hayshed Hill, they took the plunge and struck out on their own under the Peacetree label opening their cellar door at the end of 2002.
French winemaker Severine Maudoux joined them in 2005, and with an aligned philosophy of minimal sulphur and low acidic wines made with artesian flare, she incorporates strong old world techniques, wild and extended ferments. From harvest to bottle, the wine is quality controlled with natural wine-making techniques creating beautifully balanced wines intense with flavour due to non-irrigated vines and handpicked fruit.
In 2019 the youngest of the four sons Sam took the helm of the estate. Partnering with young gun award winning winemaker Livia Maiorana, Sam and Liv are driving all the same philosophies with the same passion for wine as Sam's parents.
Their cellar door experience has been likened to a warm hug from an old friend. This winery has grown into a family affair enjoyed by both family and friends, along with the strong, loyal following of their Grand Cru memberships and customers. They hope to share their passion for wine and family, leaving you feeling just that much closer to the boutique wine lifestyle.
